"hearing" light charges in a loaded round

This trick was posted by Jbar4Ranch over on TFL. All credit to him, and I am sorry if he has posted it here. I couldn't find it.

Have you ever wondered if an assembled round had powder in it. Sometimes when the powder charge is small, it is next to impossible for an old shooters ears to hear the powder when the round is shaken. So the solution is to hold the round against a powder funnel, and hold the big end of the funnel near your ear. The little megaphone works like a charm. I can hear as little as 2 grains of Titegroup clearly, and that is a very small charge.

I've often had a loaded small pistol round where some doubt existed was to whether there was powder in it.

I wil try this next time - You may have saved a lot of people from the dangers of a squib load!

If I had known this trick a while back it would have saved me from disassembling about 130 rounds of 38 special.
This tip was such a simple thing that I am still happy about finding out about it. But again the thanks should go to Jbar4Ranch, not me.
