Heavy Hitter Carry Guns

This is just a fun Show & Tell thread for big guns that are rarely discussed as being carried for self-defense.

I think my point was missed - you've asserted the Glock 17 as a heavy hitter, but the G19 not qualifying... Just silly... 4.49" barrel length vs. 4.01", and 17rnds of 9mm vs. 15... None of the splitting hairs between these don't matter...

A 9mm isn't a heavy hitter among a class of 40's, 41's, 44's, and 45's... It's sufficient for its task, but that wasn't the point here, right? I carried a G17 for several years too, never felt any more heavily armed than I do carrying a G19. When I carry a Springfield Micro Compact 45acp, I have a 'heavier hitter' than a G17, even though one is full sized and one is a subcompact. I see in this thread short barrels, SP101's, a G19, an LC9, S&W 60 & 19's, 9mm's and 357's... The bar is pretty low for "heavy hitters"...

I'm all for a thread about "big guns," but one which includes 357mag and 9mm isn't that, in my experience.

No you missed the point. I defined a heavy hitter as being "Full-Size." Glock advertises the Model 17 as a Full-Size model and the Model 19 as a Compact one. As I previously commented it gets confusing when it comes to how manufacturers define the size of their semi-autos.

Come on. Lighten up. You are taking this way, way too seriously. It is just a fun topic to show off your big guns. I allowed paul105 Ruger Alaskan to be included even though it does not have a 4" barrel because the gun is large, it weighs a lot and it shoots a large, very heavy bullet.

I am not a Moderator so I have no control what replies and pictures other THR members post.

Hummm ok. Start your own picture topic and I will join in. In the meantime let this just be a fun thread.

BSA1

Love the stag grips on the one on the left! Thinking about getting a pair of them for my Beretta Stampede.

This one I carry (6+1)

My most-carried .45 ACP pistol, SIG P-227-Carry -- packed in a Kramer Belt Scabbard (OWB pancake in horsehide). 'Cause I love SIGs and this specimen is as accurate and reliable as every SIG I've ever owned.

Second-most carried .45 is my ol' war-horse SA TRP (even though I've got a couple other 1911s considered more top-tier or semi-custom) ... usually packed in a Galco Concealable or Safariland ALS paddle during the winter months. I used to carry exclusively Commander-length 1911s (Colt's LW Commander XSE, Kimber CDP Pro, etc.) but I found the 5" barrel conceals just about as well for me. Totally love this gun because it's an amazing tackdriver and I also kinda like that aggressive front-strap checkering ...

You know how to tell someone's carrying a full size?

He's limping and out of breath. :neener:

Since this is for carry guns they must be easily portable and concealed.

Combat Commander .45.

Custom .38sup.

M65 .357.

Kimber Ultra Carry .45,
Browning High Power 9mm.

Custom worked 1911 .45.

I have some heavy hitters:

To be honest I rarely carry any of them. The most likely pistol I'll be wearing is a Walther PPS, a mini 9mm as it were. Second most common is a S&W Bodyguard .380. When going on a long road trip I will pack either the pair of Witness Elites or the Springfield 9 mm's. When I'm going to a fancy dress Barbeque it's the CZ75b, S&W 1911sc, or the Sig X6. When going to a formal dinner in tux I often pack my Beretta 21 or Baby Browning in .25 ACP because they fit comfortably in the little holster pouch my wife sewed in the cummerbund.

I've probably been in as many gunfights as a civilian as the majority posting here. None. I've been on this planet for 62 years, and lived in the 4th largest city in America for the last 21. I've traveled extensively through South Africa, Mozambique, most of Europe, Singapore, Hong Kong, Bataam Island, Korea, and never had to pull a gun out. So I don't feel under-gunned no matter what I am carrying, because many of the places I've worked don't allow you to carry anything at all.

Yeah, I carry a Heavy Hitter, most of the Winter... Easy to conceal because of extra clothing. An old 3 screw Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 Rem. Mag. Gotta luv it! Tried to post a picture but there was too much glare from worn bluing! HaHaHaHaHa......
