Hey if you've got it why not flaunt it every now and then? That's one awe inspiring collection!

Very nice! Reminds me a lot of my Springfield Armory M1911A1, only your's looks a lot more nicely polished and blued than mine!

Old school, eh? The 4006 is one of the only .40s I ever liked. The 3rd gen Smiths definitely qualify on the "heavy" part, for sure. But in my experience, mostly all durable and reliable pistols (loved the 5906 I was issued back in the day).

Thank you. I bought it used 11 years ago for my son. A few years later he was going to sell it to buy a "better" 1911. I'm very glad I bought it from him because it's a great gun and I like shooting it.

I like the parkerized finish look on your 1911 too...

Heavy hitters:

My .357's were never small enough to be concealed carry. My CZ 40P is called a "compact" by the folks at CZ apparently, but it never seemed compact enough for concealed carry, to me, either. My heavy hitter carry gun up till a year ago had been a Taurus PT 145...a great gun in many ways. Two other Taurus's I own would also fill the heavy hitter role, a beautiful polished stainless 445 revolver in .44 Special, and a PT 740 Slim in .40.

Instead of either of those, however, I've opted for a new S&W Shield in .45 acp, which I bought last year. When I feel I need a heavy hitter, that's what I'll go to. As of right now, though, I'm still comfortable with and confident in my .38 snubbie loaded with +P.

Here's my Gp100 3". I can't shoot it well enough to justify carrying but that was the idea at some point. Unknown holster and black locust wood on factory Ruger compact grips. I was experimenting with Remington 180gr jhp and Vor-Tx 140gr loads before moving on, those may qualify as "heavy hitters" in a carry gun.

Just kidding... Until I get my Kirst gated .45 Colt Conversion. Ok, actual as-defined heavy hitters-

Maadi Helwan- 9mm single-stack, but but a full-length barrel. I have a nice IWB holster for this. It hides surprisingly well.

1911a1 'Frankengun' assembled buy a buddy, who later gave it to me as a present. I don't carry it all the time, but I do carry it.

Now this is a "Heavy Hitter" for under 2 pounds loaded ; an old. beautiful faded to gold framed Star PD .45acp . It is sighted right on for 230 grain Winchester Ranger . Originally I sighted the gun in for WW Black Talon 230, the Ranger is exactly the same :) Got this back when I went to American Pistol Institute, it's allways loaded

I honestly don't own anything I would really consider a heavy hitter. The two I would consider coming close are an old Dan Wesson .357 revolver (I only have the 4" barrel & shroud for it, always wanted a 6") & my Ruger SR 1911 but my idea of heavy hitter would probably 10mm, .44 magnum & up.

Interesting pictures of a bunch of guns without holster wear. Curious how you make that happen.
The Star PD was carried alot for a long time, there is finish wear, but I baby my guns. The Shield is currently replacing it, it is tupperware and a throw away gun if I happen to carry it with out a permit :) never happened so far tho. The others are sporadically carried, remember I say I keep my guns in good shape and have excellent holsters for them since early 70s. I have had some "Ranch " gun's one of which was a 4 5/8 Ruger three Screw flat top which I wore the finish of a lot, not as much as the one above tho, that is beautiful. Yes a full on .357 is a heavy hitter, it was designed from the get go as such.

Sorry for the crappy pictures I need to take another one of the Ruger with better lighting. That one is from when it was brand new 2012 IIRC.

Hmm...
S&W 1006, Taurus PT1911, Taurus Judge, Chiappa Rhino 6", IAI Javelina, FN Five-SeveN (does that even count?), HK USP9 (no pic), and my two favorite -- and utterly ridiculous -- carry guns, a CZ VZ61 Skorpion and an Uberti Buntline.
In no particular order because my phone hates me:
