I like subcompact carry guns! The Hellcat is on my short list. I will definitely be purchasing the Hellcat OSP version with the cut out for a red dot site.
My question: Is it worth it to buy a red dot for a sub compact carry gun? Purchasing the OSP version will give me the option but is it worth dropping an additional few hundred dollars on a quality red dot site for it?
My personal belief for concealed carry is that if the threat is more than 10 yards away I highly doubt I need to be shooting at it! I grew up watching "Lethal weapon" like everyone else but I don't fantasize myself being in a "shoot out" like many seem to.
I love red dots on my range guns! They are a great help with my eyes getting older. But there is not a gun I own that I can't make solid hits with at 10 yards using the open sights.
Does anyone carry a Hellcat OSP with a reddot mounted as there every day concealed carry? Does the red dot add a lot of bulk? From the pictures I have seen it doesn't look like a slim red dot adds a whole lot of height to the Hellcat? I can't imagine that the Hellcat OSP would not allow for co-witnessing the open sites through the red dot?
And... if I get a red dot for a Hellcat OSP carry gun, which one? The Trijicon RMR is out of my price range. I love the large viewing window on my Burris fast fire III but it seems way to bulky for a subcompact. Maybe a Sig Romeo Zero or Romeo1?
Noblex QUICKsight... Hmmm. $470 is out of my price range though.
