hello high road, just got my new DSA stg 58 and got a decent deal on some mags for it, about 30 dollars for 7 mags, they were a little on the used side , and after cleaning and oiling them they seem to be in decent shape. Now I have to consider feeding this beast, I knew 308 was going to cost, but this much, I guess it is just the ammo prices on everything going up, I want to get enough to last me a few trips to the range and some for just in case. can some one steer me in the right direction. Ive considered reloading, but one , Ive never done it and two will I really save any money? Just need some info thats all and is there any ammo that I cannot or should not shoot through the fal?thanks::)

    Current factory ammo = ~$15-20/box of 20
Current surplus ammo = ~$0.50 per round
    Reloading cost = ~ $0.23-0.25 per round

Within 500 rounds you have everything paid off plus you get the ability to tailor loads to your rifle.

$97 per 200 round battle pack, plus shipping. It's fully reloadable.

I love shooting , Is it hard and if I wanted to start how much for a setup?

Im not really into bench rest shooting with this rifle but I really like shooting and were is the best place to get ammo from for it , either in 200 rd batches or a case of 1000 to last me a little while

The cliché says, "You don't save money by reloading. You just get to shoot more."

Most of mine is Lake City surplus. But I haven't bought any since it was .20 a round. My SAR-48 loves it.

Lake City Arsenal is known for making arguably the best military ammunition. When you see it in surplus, it is usually scarfed up in a hurry. I believe all their 7.62x51 and 5.56 ammo is now going for well over .50 a round. I don't believe that will change for the better anytime soon, if you can find it.

Cheaper than Dirt has the Indian 150 grain on stripper clips in bandoleers for $19.95 per 50. I bought a few hundred rounds, its shoots decent, not gonna rave about it but it works and is about as cheap as I have seen.
