What works for you? What have you tried?

I'm looking for shooting ear protection that also amplify hunting sounds like foot steps. Earbuds, not muffs. A bonus would be ones that also connect to devises via bluetooth. The best appear to be by Nuheara, $300, or Doppler Labs, $200. Ouch. The typical stuff sold to shooters, by say Midway, appear to have way less quality and value for what they cost.

The idea is to put them in at the start of a hunting or shooting session and take them out at the end. Smaller size and longer battery life, all the better.

I guess no one has tried any of these hearing aid combo hearing protection products.

I thought it would be a good idea, because when you are hunting you never know when you will have to shoot. These things amplify faint sounds for people with poor hearing, and prevent anything louder than 85 db through, thus acting like an ear plug. Here is a photo of the Nuheara IQBuds.

I have MSA sordins, the peltor comtac 2s and I have a normal peltor set that has that Bluetooth thing in it so my phones music can turn on and scare the piss out me on the range.
And if I forget them all then cigarette butts it is

I tried a few sets of muffs, never buds. My experience was difficulty sensing direction of sound. I was turned off enough that I use rubber plugs hanging around my neck when hunting.
As a range item the muffs were cool.

I was all hepped up on trying the Nuhearas until I looked at their websites FAQ.
In brief and under the General FAQs,
Are Nuheara IQbudsTM a certified hearing protection device?

''IQbudsTM are not a certified hearing protection device and will not meet any of the OSHA hearing protection regulations. We do not recommend using them to protect your ears from toxic noise or to protect you from noise induced hearing loss in places such as shooting ranges. They are designed for...''
Also within that FAQ, theses are not designed as (??) hearing aids.

I am strictly guessing here, but possibly those certs if obtainable would drive the cost up, tests, cert fees etc.
