Help finding a 38.

You might be better off asking which car is best for you. ;) Kidding aside, .38's run the gammut from tiny snubs to long-barreled revolvers. Could you please elaborate as to what the gun's purpose will be? Concealed carry or house gun? Collector's item?

Also, this thread belongs in the "Revolver" group and not "Autoloaders". You will get a much better response there.

The only .38 Special automatic I know of is/was the Smith & Wesson 52 target pistol. If you can find one and afford it and want a wad-cutter shooting auto, there's not much that can touch it. Certainly high quality.

There are far more autos in .38 Super (or even its predecessor .38 ACP/.38 Auto) -- and mostly those are 1911 variants. They do tend to be pretty good as they are either older factory guns turned out in a time of hand skills, or more recent custom or specialty guns.

If you start a "What .38 Special?" thread in the Revolver forum, please do give us a bit more to go on.

his is a taurus crossover according to him thats the name........it looks closer to a beretta 92 than a 1911

A Ruger SP101 in .38 is reliable. But for the money, you might as well just get the .357. Also the Ruger LCR is good. Then there are all sorts of Tauruses, Charter Arms, and Smith and Wessons out there. Personally, if I just wanted something to carry on a regular basis, and I was set on a .38, I'd just get a Taurus. They're not as nice to shoot as a Smith, but they works just fine. If money is no problem, get a Smith and Wesson or go with the Ruger.
