Good Afternoon,

I’m in the market for a new rifle; I have a pretty good idea of what I want, now I need to find out who makes one.

Caliber- 30-06 Springfield
Stock- Laminate or walnut
Barrel- Approximately 22 inches (blued or stainless does not matter)
Place to attach sling
Sights- set up for a scope, however, I would prefer a rifle, which also comes equipped with iron sights (as a backup)
Must have good trigger

I will also need a scope; the rifle will spend most of its time in the woods looking for deer, however, it may on occasion go to altitude for goats; I’m thinking either a 2-7, or 3-9 Leupold rifleman scope will work, but I’m open to suggestions.

Thanks in Advance

Sounds like you just described a CZ550FS

The CZ550 and the Savage both look like very nice rifles, thanks for pointing them out.

Does anyone have experience with the Mossberg 4*4 with wither the walnut or laminate stock? I want to invest in a quality rifle, but I'd like to have some money left over for ammo and range time.

Your right, the mossberg is not what I'm looking for, besides that stock too unsightly.

I think a Savage 110, CZ550 is exactly what I'm looking for.

Thanks Gentlemen

LOL at best those mossbergs are unsightly.

Normally I'm the biggest Savage fanboy out there but in this case I prefer the CZ, You'll just have to handle both and decide based on how the stocks fit you as the cut and drop are quite different between the two. Either way though a 30-06 with sights is going to be a very short list.

Are you dead set on a bolt action? because if not you have quite a few more options in rifles like the Browning BLR/BAR or the Rem 7600/750

cz was my first thought, secondly and thirdly, the new sako a7's, then a remmy with sites, then a savage classic 14 series...

that being said, the cz, with the set trigger, can be set down as low as thought control to set it off, and can be adjusted with just a small blade screwdriver, and you don't have to take anything out of the stock.... sweeet.
