So, there are what appear to be dovetails to facilitate a scope mount on the rear sight platform of my Ithaca 37 Deerslayer.

I would like to mount my Red Dot to this location, which takes 30mm rings. The rings that came with the Red Dot are made to clamp to a much wider scope base and almost every ring set I see in the store looks like they go for that same size base. The few ring sets that look like they will fit that 1/2" base are smaller in diameter than the 30MM needed for the Red Dot.

Does anyone have any ideas where I might have some luck on finding a mounting solution for this? I don't even know the proper terms to be searching for.

PS. If you didn't know, I have zero experience mounting scopes.

Doesn't help much when I don't even know what I am looking for. What size of ring goes on a 1/2" wide base with dovetail cuts?

I see a few things that say 3/8" dovetail. . . is that the distance between the bottom of the grooves? I suppose they could be 1/16" deep each. . .

I'd agree that Brownell's would be the go-to for both hardware and technical advice. They have a phone number for the tech advice and folks with the product knowledge and practical experience to give you the straight skinny on what works with what.

Worth the time and the price of a call, IMO.
