My wife's dad (now deceased) brought a little gun back from WWII France. I had hoped it was a Luger or something special, but to be honest I don't know what it is. Probably not worth much, but it's interesting just because it's old and has a history.

The details: six shot, double action (I guess that's what you call it...very long trigger pull rotates the cylinder like my .357 Taurus except there's no hammer), .22 mag cartridges fit rather loosely. Trigger folds forward up into the frame for smooth concealment. There are no markings for caliber, only those on the pics via link below.

Could someone tell me what it is??

First of all, your photos are excellent.

The proof marks are Belgian and I think it's chambered for a cartridge called the "5.5mm Velo Dog," which is slightly bigger in diameter then a .22 WRF, but a center fire. It was introduced in 1894 and last loaded in the United States in 1940. It's original intent was to shoot dogs (hence the name) if you were attacked while out on a bike. It was usually chambered in small revolvers like the one you have. It was probably made in Belgian, France or Germany - most likely the former - sometime in the early or middle 1900's by a small, and now unknown maker.
