had this thing in my safe for years...can anyone tell me anything about it?

Does it have UNION CUTLERY CO over Olean, NY on the tang opposite the Ka-Bar?

If so it is a pre 1952 hunter that they produced. The coloring is distinctive.

Nope, but you find fewer of these than you would military. Your's appears to be in near perfect condition.

A little Wenol or Flitz on the blade and a good coat of Ren Wax and you'll have it looking nearly new without wrecking the value.
