Help me chose my next .44 magnum revolver

Which of these 3 would YOU buy if you already had 5 or 6 revolvers?

That 5" 629 would be G2G, but the lock would kill the deal personally unless it was areal bargain. Yes, I know that they can be de-activated, but it is simply a personal distaste thing. I have exactly ONE .44 (a 329) that has a lock. If there one available w/o, I would have gone that route.

That said, there are a number of 5" Model 29s w/o a lock on the used gun market.

The 629-8 I pictured above has the Plug installed, as do six other S&Ws that are excellent guns that I am glad to own. I can say that I have no plan to buy any more, but I am not going to pay a hefty premium for something older just to be a lock bigot. Price still matters.

Dang! Almost a 3-way tie.

Me personally, if I wanted a ".44 snub nose" short barrel revolver, I'd get the new GP100 in .44 special or seek out a Rossi 720. I am not a fan on .44 magnums with less than a 4" bbl, ideally 5" and above for this old cow hand.

Oh please. I don't think "bigot" is quite an appropriate label for someone because they won't buy a handgun with a feature they don't like. We've been here before. Be careful about being too intolerant, you might wind up looking like a hypocrite.

I didn't pay this for my 29-3 ($420 in 2002) but it has always seemed to me that the new guns don't save you any money. It's usually the other way around. In a 30 second search, I found several 29-3's for $900 or less and a new one is $880.

Bigot is a very appropriate label, considering how strongly some feel about it. Sorry you like to follow me around and snipe.

Calling a person a "Bigot" because they prefer a classic design, over something that was essentially the product of politics.

Stay Classy Real Gun...

Notice that YOU are the only one slinging insults over this.

Follow you around? I posted in this thread before you did.
