get some meat & put some poisen on it.
Umm, no. Big huge NO. It's almost always illegal and very hazardous to most of the wildlife in the food chain. Poison lasts a long time.

Get a .223, set up somewhere with a close and safe shot, call, and pop a couple.

I've seen a pack of coyotes gang up on a dog- big pit bull mix- and basically try to tag team him down. He grabbed one, two others would grab his back legs and make him turn loose. Meanwhile the others would be resting up to swap off when the fighters got tired, never giving him a chance to rest. They ran at the first shotgun blast, but if we hadn't been there that dog was a goner.

As far as the original question, I don't believe that shooting out nuisance animals of any kind is more than a temporary solution at best. You have to find what's attracting them into your area and change that. Coyotes are spreading across North America, so that might be easier said than done. Mostly they replace wolves, which have been eradicated in most of the USA. Do you still get them in Ontario?

we still have timber wolves here -they are also known to take dogs but i have never seen any as brave as this coyote--would deer fit into the coyotes diet?-i thought they more or less only ate small game, rabbits, mice etc.?
I just don't know anything about coyotes.

We have an overpopulation of deer the last few years-maybe thats whats keepin them around?

Olympic Peninsula coyote. She was eyeballing my littledog on a Sunday morning last year. 22mag shoulder shot about 35 yards.

Few years ago coyotes killed a young deer- just past the fawn stage- in my back field. I wasn't there when it happened but I had to clean up the mess so it wouldn't stink up the place. Like any other predator they will go for the weakest target but they will kill deer if they catch them.

I'm in eastern Washington, I see coyotes all the time out here. My question is what to do if you bag one... are there places that pay for pelts anymore around here?

i am finding out that coyotes are sure brave and sneaky and that when they are around-u can't grab the gun soon enough.

Maybe you could ask the US fish and wildlife to transplant some Canadian gray wolves in your area. They are very, very agressive with any kind of dog/ coyote. I have a buddy up near Pine and Featherville that says he hasnt seen a yote in the area in 4 years because of the pack thats been running around up there.

Be wary; baiting and trapping are illegal in Washington. And really its not that hard to spot coyotes. Even in a wooded area like I imagine you're in.

gun friendly

Not only is Washington a shall issue concealed weapons permit state. It is also open carry freindly state:cool:
