I am thinking I need to get another rifle some time soon, right now I only have 4 , a Winchester model 61 pump action .22LR, a tacticoolized AK in 7.62, and a Savage 114 in 30-06, and a tube fed Ruger .44 Carbine, what do you think I should get to round things out better?

thanks for the thoughts

You don't NEED another one, that's a pretty well-rounded group.

That said, I'd get a .223 - .243 bolt action for a light, walking around rifle, or a heavy barreled target grade one for serious range work, or an Anschutz .22LR for other kinds of serious range use.

Really, it depends on what you want to do with a rifle that you can't conveniently/easily/optimally do with the ones that you currently have. That's what has driven my purchases - when I want to do something that I don't have the "right" weapon for.

If you know how many guns you have, you don't have enough.

I just started picking up firearms a few years ago. So far I have:
a 17 HMR, 22LR, 22 Mag, a 22 Hornet, (4) 223s, a 220 Swift, a 280, a 300 Roy, a 30-06, a 30-30, (3) 308s, a .338 Win, a 45-70, a 50 BMG, (2) 22 Pistols, a 357, a 10mm, a 45, a 500 S&W, (3) 12 gauge, a 10 gauge, and a 50 cal ML. This is a rough list but fairly accurate...my starting sentence rings true...I need more.

agreed, the op didnt mention if there was already a handgun or shotgun in the collection, but if not, those should be next

providing you already have a shotgun and a handgun....

make your choice on either what you can't do with what you have now, or what you like to do most with rifles.

i would lean towards an ar if it were me, they're just a lot of fun, and can be set up to fill different roles.

Definitely an AR-15, start out with a carbine and build it into a tack driving, mean shooting machine, with a bull barrel, Timney triger and on and on and on:D

You need a 17 HMR. I know you have a 22, but its not the same beast. Great for muskrat, nutria and other vermin out to 300+ yards. Head shots only for squirrel and rabbits, and less chance of ricochet! The standard weight barrel will work fine.

Well i dont know what your needs are, but hipoint has nice carbines in a nice price range with customer service second to none. Available in 9mm .40 and .45

From the Charter-
"Every American Rifleman shall shave in their possession, or be in the process of obtaining the following centerfire rifles-
1) M1 Garand
2) AR pattern rifle/carbine
3) Remington 700 in 7mm Remington Magnum or Winchester Model 70 in 270 Winchester, unless having inherited a sporterized '03 Springfield from a grandfather in 30-06 or an 03-A3 from an uncle
4) M1 Carbine
5) Winchester model 94 in 30-30 WCF, Winchester 73 in 44 WCF or 38 WCF or Marlin 1895 in 45-70"
6) A varmint rifle in either 22-250 or 223 Remington with a scope of at least 20x"

1) Shotgun
2) Handgun
3) AR-15
4) Browning X-Bolt Hunter chambered in .308 Win.

(ok, so that last one MAY be what I'm currently saving my pennies for :D)
