If it were me, I would choose the heavier rifle with the A2 (non adjustable) stock. I would look for a good scope, a 6-9" Harris bipod and some 10 round magazines. These things can be added over time. Since neither rifle comes with any sights, the scope would be the first accessory I would add.

Get a good scope and keep in mind that scopes are not exactly "home defense" options so I would keep the 30 round magazines for home defense spray and pray type situations. You will hopefully use the rifle more for targets and varments that home defense so 10 round mags are all you really need and make shooting from a bench much easier...(These things in their original form came with 20 round magazines). After shooting the lo-pro for a while and shooting other peoples AR's at the range, you will know more what you wished you had and at that time perhaps decide to build you own from parts and pieces. Good luck, you will be happy with either one you choose.

i love my dpms ap4. it's only malfunctioned twice since i've had it due to some cheap reloads that i bought from a local gun show. the trigger sucks, but for what i paid i can spend $150 on a new trigger and still feel like i got a deal.

for the record the chart isn't 100% accurate because my dpms came with a really nicely staked gas key. almost up to par with pictures of lmt stake jobs.

i just wish i had a chrome lined barrel and chamber. i'll just have to settle for SLIGHTLY better accuracy from the non-lined.

to answer the op's question i would go with the first link. it's less expensive. if you decide you hate the stock you can always change it later on. the bull barrel won't make too much of a diff. considering dpms barrels are already pretty accurate

Definitely get the Lo-Pro Classic. You said "Varmint" - you will want the heat-dissipating qualities of the Lo-Pro for that. You don't need a light rifle for your two stated purposes: Home Defense and Varmint. You only need a light rifle if humping it all day.
