Consider the Hk P30 and P30L, it's an updated version of the P2000.

I'd go with the CZ - but if you're a lefty, you might want to check out the CZ 85 - it's ambi.
The FNP-9s seem to be pretty good and pretty cheap... don't look too bad, either.

I have a CZ 75b Stainless and I have found that it's my most accurate gun. I think its lines are classic and beautiful. It handles recoil very well. It has never failed in any way. Accurate, beautiful, reliable...and compared to many of the suggested guns, inexpensive. With my eyes closed, I can bring it up to presentation and when I open my eyes, I'm almost dead on aim.

I put on wood grips just for the looks. If you get a CZ, you'll probably buy more, it's that good.

If you're interested in a CZ SP-01, check the for sale forum soon. I have one I'm about to put on the market. :)

I'd agree that the tooling marks and roughness inside a CZ do not hinder its operation or accuracy. However, doesn't that make it a lot harder to keep clean? Couldn't that lead to undetected corrosion etc?
No on both counts. The tooling marks are not that deep.

I voted for the P2000 because it is totally ambidextrous - slide stop and mag release - and very ergonomic. I think it is a compact, however, not a full size or duty gun. The SA XD is a nice pistol.

S&W 3913
BHP with a commander/ring hammer(I know that you ruled one out because of bites, but try the ring hammer)
1911 commander type, spring and barrel change, you can go to 38 super or 9mmx23

S&w M&p - H&k P2000

I, too, suffer from the LEFT HANDED GUN need and have found two excellent pistols which do all I want.

The new M&P from Smith & Wesson has ambi controls. I have both the large and compact; large in .40 and compact in 9mm.

H&K makes a true LEFT HANDED GUN in the P2000 which comes in 9mm flavor or .40 and has dual controls for each side of the weapon. I have 2 in .40 cal flavor and they are all you need.

Hope this helps a fellow cripple.

I had to vote CZ here. They're just a really good gun all around. The most important part is that it fits you though. The CZ 75 fits me like it was molded to my hand and the ergonomics and balance are superb. My experiences with it has been entirely positive. Enough to make it my favorite handgun overall. I used to be a big fan of the Sig 226 until I got my CZ.

I think all of the models you are considering are good options. I voted for the P2000.

Personally, I think it's good that you've already ruled out a lot models. I mean, ultimately you'll have to rule out every model but one anyway.

PX4. Cheap (got mine NIB for $435 before taxes), dependable, 17 round capacity, good looking.
