AB 1471, the microstamping idiocy, is on Arnie's desk now. He has vetoed some bad bills before. We need help from anyone and everyone to register opposition. You can do it easily for the price of a long distance call. You don't have to speak to anyone. It's entirely automated.

CALL Gov's Sac number (916-445-2841)

Press 1 - for English
Press 2 - for Voice your opinion on Assembly Bills
Press 1 - for Micro Stamping Bill (AB1471)
Press 2 to OPPOSE the gun control bill.

AB 1471 is at the top of the heap, so we need to flood the automated system with as much opposition as we can. Tell your friends. Every call out here counts.

Mods, if this was posted somewhere else, my apologies. I looked but didn't see it.

Thanks.

Note that the number is very busy.

Alternatively, email via the Governor's web site also works; AB 1471 is on the list "Please Choose Your Subject" in alphabetical order at "Firearms:Microstamping".

Short. Polite. Calm.

Unless you have Arnie's ear directly, the folks that see this are just staff, and their main job is tallying counts for and against.

Keep calling. It takes seconds and we have no one but ourselves to blame if the number is not kept busy with no votes.:cuss:

"Description:

AB 1471

Semi-automatic pistols must have make, model, and serial number etched inside the pistol that are transferred on to each cartridge case when the firearm is fired."

how would that work? The firing pin would act like a rough stamp?

I sent an Email also....Even though I live in Tn.
As if one can do, they all may follow soon.

See this report on testing the technology.
The technology developed by ID Dynamics of Londonderry, N.H., uses a laser to cut a pattern or code into the head of a firing pin. The method is similar to that used to engrave codes on computer chips. When the trigger is pulled, the firing pin hits the cartridge case or primer and stamps the code onto it. In principle, the spent cartridge can then be matched to a specific gun.

It sorta works, sometimes, on some guns with some ammunition.

Don't know if I'm eligible to voice my opinion, since I reside in the US, but it took me all of 43 seconds using the phone number. It wasn't busy.

If you reside outside of CA don't think this doesn't affect you. This odious piece of legislation, or something like it, is coming to your state as well.

AB1471 microstamping

Eugene DePasquale, D-York, said he regularly hears from constituents about defending the rights of gun owners.

"The NRA has been very effective at building a very solid grass-roots organization in areas all across the state," he said. "When you hear from actual voters in your district, that has actual impact."

Could be said better. call fax and e-mail

I called in and will continue to do so for my brothers in California. If this passes, it will only be a matter of time before the Antis in other states start pushing this Judge Dredd technology on the rest of us. :fire:

I was born in east LA so I called to oppose it. Now in free Utah but gotta help
the natives.

Wondering how much good this is doing

My livelyhood is setting up telephone rat-mazes like the one mentioned in the above thread.

If this were my IVR I would have 4 counters broken into instate/out of state (based on caller ID) and for/against.

In For
In Against
Out For
Out Against

I wonder if they are doing this and if they are ignoring the out of state "voters"

I called in but I used a caller ID block on my verizon cell phone this entails dialing *67 1 916 445 2841. Not sure how this works on other carriers or land lines.

If you are calling out out of state you may want to block your caller ID.

As coincidence would have it one of my office lines has a Sacramento number (I live/work in Utah) I'll call from that line incase they log the caller ID.

How does one block their ID before making a call?
I just called, but I'll call again with the ID blocked, if I can.
