I have a 7.62x54r rifle that I believe is a Vostok Mosin target rifle from the 1960's. Can you help me find out more information on it? If it is a collector item I do not want to destroy it. If it is not, I want to turn it into a project. Thank you.

    74512 receiver number
    120372 bolt number
    4049 barrel number
    crown etching on gun
    "1" on bottom of barrel
    butt plate - 4?3194 - "?" is an square/"A" looking symbol.

Go over to the Gunboards.com Collector Forum, there's at least a dozen guys with 'em.

They're very uncommon, very expensive, very accurate target rifles made from Mosin rifles for olympic-level competition- back in the sixties when biathlon was shot with full-power military rifles, these won quite a few olympiads for the Russians, alongside Ross rifles re-barreled for flavors of x54R.

    Is yours a 6,5x54R or a 7.62x54R?
