Just was reading the Firearms blog review of the Henry big boy steel in 327 Federal. Sounds like it could be a very interesting rifle. I could see it being useful for a small game rifle and pest control. Possibly as a defensive rifle in restrictive locals. I have not had any first hand use with the the Henry lever guns.
Any thoughts on this rifle.

I'd like to see the 115 grain Gold Dot Bullet come back. It should be able to stay together and penetrate at the velocities the rifle will launch them at. I have a 327 Ruger SP101. I'd want to like this rifle as a multi-purpose rabbit and close quarters pig gun, but I can't like it without a stout expanding bullet to launch with it.

I don’t think it’s worth it since 357 is so popular. I can’t think of anything it does that 357 or a 38spl doesn’t.

That said one of the most fun guns I’ve been around is a Winchester 92 in 32-20. I can’t say a 357 wouldn’t have been equally fun thought.

I read a review on it this morning, sounds like a sweet little rifle. Plus, Im a Henry fan for sure, with a few in my stable. But I already have a .357 lever gun and a .22lr lever gun. I reload ammo cost isnt a big deal. And I have a Ruger SSM in .32h&r, that could share all but the federal mags with it, but Im not too sure its a niche for me. Id love to shoot one, and might even be a convert, but for a $750, its not different *enough* to really interest me, at least not now.

I was actually looking around for a .44-40 rifle and a .38-40 SA revolver to go with it when I stumbled across the Henry in .327 Mag. I know somebody who has a Ruger SP101 in .327 Fed Mag, and it is pretty nice (though the trigger could definitely use some work). Ruger has brought back the GP100 in .327 Mag this year. I've been waiting for years for them to bring it back, so I will certainly be getting the GP100 when it becomes California-approved. Once I do, I will certainly look to add the .327 Henry to my collection. I don't have a Henry, and the .327 looks like it will be very low recoil for a rifle, but being a centerfire, it will be more reliable. I think that rabbit/coyote hunting will be lots of fun with a pair of guns chambered in the same cartridge. I just wish there was a Big Boy All Weather in .327; it would share the GP100's aesthetics.

I bought a wide loop lever 16” Henry carbine in .327 Federal before Christmas. Have not been able to play with it yet. Got it as a companion to my GP 100 in .327 Federal. I reload and got a boat load of 115 grain cast bullets to play with. Been too cold here lately...single digits and I’d Rather stay to the house and sip good Bourbon and Old Bushmills Irish instead. Will try it out after it warms up.

The Big Boy Steel will actually match the GP100 aesthetics. It's a blued gun with wood grips.

It's on my list for this year.
