Henry Golden Boy .22 mag or .17

Can't decide. Should I go with the .22 mag or the .17?

I have 2 pistols that are .22 mag. No need to buy .17 ammo. The .22 mag ammo is cheap and the rifle is less expensive. However the .17 has better performance and power.

No immediate plans for varmint hunting, more just paper shooting, maybe the stray/sick coon, skunk and other moderate size rodents. Some day prairie dogging.

Your thoughts/votes please.

Fox, squirrel, ground squirrel is dead as Napoleon with either one out to 150 yards.
Try a .22 WRM with the CCI 30 grains and check back after comparing that with a .17 HMR.

I can't see the .17 being any big improvement over the .22 WMR myself.
New lighter and more accurate bullets and ammo have given the .22 WMR a 2nd. wind.
As if it needed one in the first place.

Unless you just want to buy .17 cal cleaning rods and brushes and stuff, I would not venture off the path you are already on.
