I wonder if that means they might be looking at making some firearms that NJ does not approve of.

Or is it just that NJ has a horrible business climate.

Or some combination thereof.
They could produce firearms not approved by NJ just not sell them in NJ.

NJ has a bad business climate. The governor of NJ commented on a claim of high taxes. He said (paraphrasing), "if you don't want to pay high taxes don't move to NJ".

NJ has a bad business climate.

The east coast as almost a whole has a bad business climate. If it wasn't for the legacy companies, there really wouldn't be much there. I don't understand why a company like Henry would start up in NJ... knowing the poor business climate?

My guess is they bought a business that was already there and did not want to move it.

I dunno....WI is still somewhat moderate now, but surrounded by increasingly socialist IL, MI, and MN. Doesn't seem like much of a haven.
I wouldn't move a 2A (or any) business there, but I'm not Tony. He's been quite successful and I assume he knows what he's doing. 🤷

I've never understood why any firearms makers ever stay or start making firearms in unfriendly states? Look how long it took Weatherby to finally cry uncle and move from ca. to Wyoming. At least Henry didn't take forever to finally make a good move.

The governor of NJ is a communist who is uber wealthy(Hypocrite). I lived in that chitthole for 27 years and left in 1985 when it was actually normal , reasonable taxes .

It has become a true socialist state.

NY,CT,MA have some of the absolute dumbest gun laws a liberal could conceive. How any company can be in business there never mind a gun company is just befuddling.

Henry started in Brooklyn, NY. Moving to NJ may have been a good decision at the time. They could keep their experienced work force and have a better business climate at the time.

There was historical precedent for many companies that started there and build a work force before the laws came crashing down. Now, the states don't care if you move. Like if the big porn movie producers says he is going to move from your state. Buh-bye.

People and businesses are moving out of blue states. Blue states enforce Woke agenda's, and rule through Woke Bureaucrats. It used to be that Bureaucrats created work for other Bureaucrats, now as you have seen, they create work for everyone. It is just about impossible to do anything in a Blue state as any Bureaucrat can say "No", but no one can say "Yes".

Can't imagine why any firearms or defense company would want to set up shop in New Jersey.

It's all about the makers and the takers. The Bureaucrats go through life only as consumers and they love the service industry. The true strength of the economy is in the producers like Henry who are involved in manufacturing, and other producers in energy, petroleum products and farm products. The blue States have ignored the producers and could care less where products come from as long as their Bureaucrats have tax money to buy the products, pay for someone to cook their food and mow their lawns. Wisconsin is the lucky State and the Bureaucrats in New Jersey don't even realize they are the loosers

I would think that Wisconsin is probably a little more Tax friendly. Henry looked at the efficiency being under one roof.
There is also a good Tech School system in Wisconsin.

(This is just my opinion)
Wisconsinites love having Henry here!!!
I am glad to see manufacturing coming back to Wisconsin I grew up in Wisconsin on a dairy farm and lived there until I was 50 before moving to Nevada. It seemed like for years all we did was lose manufacturing jobs.
With the Tech School system there Henry will be in good shape for the future, my brother lives in Northern Wisconsin and is very happy to see them expanding there.

The Bureaucrats go through life only as consumers and they love the service industry. -Very well stated-. They generate the idea that working in factories is slavery, but in reality some people never want to have any kind responsibility or hard thinking jobs.

You can add
Lee Precision-Hartford WI
MEC Outdoors-Mayville WI

The family that owns Henry used to have a gun store in Manhattan across the street from the old police headquarters for many years.

Jersey must have been like moving to the suburbs back then.

I'm willing to bet that energy costs also played a part in the decision- a very wise decision, I might add.

Workforce. What proportion of your workforce do you think is likely to follow a job on an interstate move? Are you going to have to train locals to do the work? There is a thread running on Tennessee vs Maryland Berettas, too.
