I said the people blasting away pissing off ammo are morons....or maybe just got lots of money and access to ammo.

Well this "moron" blasted away over 700 rounds of 45 ACP yesterday. That was maybe 5% of my stock of 45 ACP and I can replace that amount in a couple of hours.

Your lack of preparation doesn't make those who prepared "morons".

I can hit the target multiple times with one clip...:neener:

Ammo shortages again...Im a 66 year old ex grunt. Times are crazy, ammo shortages again. For me my basics in long rifle are .308, .223 and .22. In pistols .45 auto, .357 mag and .22/.22 mag. Every evening I hear morons blasting away and wasting ammo. What you old timers, and even new vets think?

I am in my upper 50's and still working, so not sure if I qualify as an "old timer" or not. But I did do 28 years on active duty, so I'm a vet.

I was putting back ammo for the last few years pretty steadily and am good. I can shoot pretty much whenever I want. But if you are on a fixed income and like to shoot, consider stocking on .22's as a way to keep shooting when ammo is scarce, expensive, or both. Even now, I do tend to scale back shooting centerfire cartridges when ammo is tight. More psychological than out of any real necessity, but I still get plenty of trigger time with my .22's.

You live in Luling? Love that City Market BBQ! Talking about the original joint in Luling, not the new place in Houston. https://lulingcitymarket.com

I guess I just don't like the, if they don't do what I would, they are wrong.

Yep. Just like driving down the road.
Anyone driving slower than me is an idiot, and anyone driving faster than me is a maniac.

I think the whole concept of "wasting" ammo is funny these days.
This isn't 1950 when rural families didn't eat meat if they didn't go kill it. My dad lived like that. There were many nights they ate vegetables from the garden and nothing else because there was no meat to eat. Sometimes he or his older brother would go kill a rabbit or a squirrel or two. They didn't have a lot of money for ammo either, so they better make their shots count.

This is a different time for the vast majority of us. Shooting is many things, and one of those things is fun. We shoot because we enjoy it. When I go out and punch paper for a few hours I guess it would be "wasted" for the old timers who counted on their guns and ammo to live.
It's not wasted for me to go out and have fun with it. Hell, that's what I bought it for.
And even if it is wasted, what business is it of mine what someone else does with their ammo. They paid for it with their money. If they throw it off a bridge, it's not my business.

OP, I'm sorry you don't have enough ammo, but a lack of preparedness on your part does not equal an emergency on mine.

Are we morons because we had a couple cases of toilet paper, before this Kung-Flu started, too?

It sounds like somebody needs to start ordering bulk, over the internet. There's sites which offer free shipping...

I shoot more 22’s than anything else, took inventory this week and counted close to 35,000 rounds. I am not apologizing nor do I consider myself a “hoarder”. I shoot 10,000 or so rounds a year of rimfire alone, if I want to go out and shoot, I do. I reload everything else and have components that will probably last the rest of my shooting career (turning 72 next week).

I think a lot of my fellow morons know what I mean.

I guess I'm a fellow moron (along with being a 77 year old vet) who knows what you mean. I also shop at Wal Mart, cling to my Bible and live in a basket with my deplorable friends. Guns are made for shooting and they need ammunition to make that happen. Most of my friends not only had the good sense to stock up on ammunition when it was available and relatively affordable but they also reload.

Dirty bores are a lot more fun than clean ones!
