Everyone was arguing over what guns the characters in StarWars would carry? Let's try it again, except with LOTR. My ideas:
The Orcs/Uruk-Hai - AKs, definitely AKs
The boys & old men who stood on the walls at Helm's deep - CMP Garands, M1 carbines, and 1903s, cause their weapons had been languishing in storage for a LONG time.
The elves- M1A's (because their bows were better then the ones the guys from Rohan had, and they seemed to shoot faster)
Gandalf- Barret Light Fifty, cause the anti's are always attributing magical properties to the 50 BMG cartridge.

    What can you add?

    Major characters’ sidearms

    Aragorn: HK P7
    Legelos: Les Baer 1911
Gimli: HK USP (probably 5 or 6 of them)
    Boramir: Glock
    Merry: Taurus 617T
    Pippen: S&W Ladysmith
    Sam: Ruger GP-100
Frodo: Nothing worthwhile, he’s too busy complaining about the ring (ok, maybe in light of Sting he would carry a Kel-tec P32)
Gandalf: Gun, what gun? The man uses a stick of wood! Well maybe a S&W model 27.

I don't think Gandalf carries a gun. He carries a radio.

    "Orcs in the open..." ;)

    Aragorn: FAL w/ 1911 backup
    Legelos: Sako TRP w/ H&K P7 backup
Gimli: BAR or GE mini-gun (size matters)
    Boramir: Glock
    Merry & Pippen: Ruger MkII's
Sam: S&W M-10 (simple, yet reliable)
Frodo: Walther PPK (not used much)
Gandalf: S&W #3 Russian (classic gun for a classic guy)
    Sauroman: Luger
    Urukai: AK's
    Helm's Deep warriors: FAL's or M14's
Elven archers: Remington 700/ M-40 Sniper rifles

    Did I forget anyone?

Gimli is really a double-barrel side-by-side cut down 10 gauge kinda guy...

I agree with Bogie. Gimli is definitely a sawed of 10 gauge coach gun. Add a couple of shotshell bandoliers and off he goes.

Yeah, the results would fit in perfectly with the persona that was developed in LOTR2... Fire both barrels, fly back 5-10 feet, get up, shake, mutter, reload, repeat.
