I live in the Ozarks, and I cut dead trees on my farm. They are mostly red oak, with some hickory and a few other species. They burn like nobody's business when they're seasoned on the stump.

Nice set up there Dog (shoot'in shed) I've got one of the Hi Point TS9's or at least I did until my son "borrowed" it and has shot the dickens out of it. I placed a little inexpensive Reflex Sight on it, and he swears by it. "most accurate little carbine I've ever shot". Incidentally I've got a 15 round after market magazine for mine and it never has had a hic cup. I do reload for .40 S&W but don't own a Hi-Point handgun or carbine, just a Beretta and a Springfield. I'm sure you will enjoy that little carbine, you might try using Unique type powder for a bit slower burning powder.
