Hi Point 9MM Hand Gun

There is nothing wrong with a hi point that can't be said of keltecs and kahrs. As a matter of fact, I would bet money that a given batch of Hi Point guns would be MORE reliable than either of those much more expensive brands on average.

There is an IMPORTANT place for "affordable" guns like the Hi Point, because especially in this economy not everyone who wants to protect their family can afford $800 for a pistol.

Long ago when I was a broke young man I had to buy a Davis .380 at one point due to finances. I believe they are similar to Hi Point as far as the metals used. The Davis was basically made out of "pot metal", and after 500 or so rounds the slide cracked slowly open, though it kept working. Same of the other Davis pistols my friends bought. But hey, the things were like $60! And they were quite reliable. I call that a decent value for those who can't afford more.

For the money they are fine guns, and serve a very important purpose. The second amendment wasn't written just for the wealthy.

Ain't Hi-Point threads fun?

I've got one (C-9, 9mm) that's a pretty decent shooting gun. It's not a Colt Gold Cup, or a Smith & Wesson "Registered Magnum," but it cost $139.00 new in the box. What do you expect? It's as accurate as I can shoot a handgun. It's as reliable as any gun I've ever used, but then I've never owned an unreliable gun. The grip is pretty comfortable IMHO. It's really not much worse looking, or much bigger than a lot of other guns.

If you want an inexpensive handgun for whatever reason, they're a good chcoice.

I wouldn't carry one if I were a cop or soldier in Iraq but for personal defense and shooting at the range they do go bang every time if you do your part. I had a 9mm that worked flawlessly with over 700 rounds of Winchester white box. Not lefty friendly though which is why I sold it. X
