That is a beautiful gun
Agreed. There are few rifles that look good from every angle, but that is one of the very best. That is a beautiful gun
You're not about to wear out your welcome here, sir! A left-hand Dakota .22 is a rare duck indeed. Please post as many pics as you would like. I for one would like to see some more pics of that custom Remington 37 sporter.Don't want to wear out my welcome on this thread but if anyone is interested I have a few more photos of .22 "plinkers" like this southpaw Dakota.View attachment 774581 View attachment 774582 View attachment 774583 View attachment 774584
A truly high-end .22 rifle--not mine, of course, for I can't afford a $25,000 rifle--for your enjoyment. Metal work by Jack Belk, stocked by Maurice Ottmar, engraved by Eric Gold, this incredible custom Springfield .22 was built in 1993 for the American Custom Gunmakers Guild's rifle raffle No.9.
Maurice Ottmar was certainly the right guy at the right time to do the stock for the Guild raffle. In my opinion his work ranks among the very top custom stockmakers, both in terms of craftsmanship and creative originality. Here is the remarkable checkering on a rifle he did for me. Wish I had commissioned more work from him.
If you don't mind me asking, who did the work on that custom Kimber?Another cute plinker is this custom stocked Kimber LH with nice features like the half-oct barrel, claw mounts, trapdoor grip cap and pretty wood..View attachment 774717 View attachment 774719 View attachment 774721
The southpaws belong to my left-handed neighbor, who brought them over to photograph under my lights. He is also a collector of custom guns (Outstanding collection of left-hand centerfires.) so we are a good (or bad) influence on each other. The crown jewel of his .22 collection (Or any other such collection I've ever seen.) is shown here. Among the extraordinary features of this rifle is the M-52 Win. action converged to LEFT HAND! I have more shots of this rifle (And other rifles)to post if there is any interest..Offfhand, very nice wood indeed! You've posted pics of left-handed and right-handed guns--do you shoot both ways?
That's the great thing about shooting .22 rifles--you never outgrow them! These are all beautiful guns. I had a Winchester 52B and a Anschutz 1413 a lifetime ago when I shot smallbore. Just starting to get an interest in it again so maybe I will have a .22 worthy of being in this thread soon.
Beautiful rifle with outstanding workmanship. Did your friend commission the work on that 52, or did it, by any chance, come out of a collection in California a few years back? Here's more views of the outrageous 52LH, showing skeleton buttplate and gripcap.View attachment 774934 View attachment 774935
It's a low end Anschutz. Single shot or repeater? If I were to hazard a guess, it would be model 1361 (single shot), or model 1415 (repeater). These are the Flobert-actioned Anschutz rifles, and not the higher grade models 64 and 54. Hope this helps.Ok, so somewhat related to this thread. Any idea what this is? The owner says it is a 50's or 60's Anschutz, .22 caliber, German made.View attachment 775033
