In possession of a High Standard Military HD 22LR serial number 2262XX. What can you tell me about this firearm?

I was told it was a low serial number made in the 40's. I also was told that the "safety" lever only locks the slide closed and doesn't prevent the pistol from firing.

    All help is greatly appreciated...

Try posting over at Jim Spacek's High Standard Homepage. All he does is HS.

The safety lever prevents the pistol from firing, or should.

FWIW, I recommend against disassembling that pistol beyond field stripping.
