high standard problem?

I dont know if this can be fixed but the slide gets stuck on this nick in the frame. I DID NOT do this, I was given this pistol as a gift and told to look after it.

Can it be fixed? the slide gets stuck, but everything else works well.

I can see nothing in the picture serious enough for the slide to be sticking on it.

If you are talking about the little ding on the left side next to the bolt face, I don't think that will hurt a thing.
If you think it is, take it off with a needle file or stone.

What I do see is a completely dry gun, with no signs of any lubrication whatsoever.

Try oiling the slide rails, and bottom of slide where the hammer cocks against it with a good firearms oil like Rem-Oil or CLP and try it.

rc, that nick is what the slide is getting stuck on, do you think that it could be fixed by filing it ? NOT done by myself of course!

Its the upper right section by the slide that I am talking about.

Hit it a few licks with some fine emory cloth (fine sandpaper). Shouln't be that big of a deal.

I still believe it needs a Lube Job much worse then sandpaper or a file!

It looks like whatever caused that "nick" (dent) raised some metal into the frame rail, causing the slide to stick. I see nothing that can't be solved by a simple file stroke; it won't require a gunsmith. The question is what caused the dent in the first place. It looks a bit like a bad magazine or a magazine button might have hit the frame some way, pushing up the metal. I would try to find the cause since even if the immediate problem is easily fixed, it may recur if the real cause is not corrected.

(BTW, I agree that some lube would help, but its lack is not the cause of the problem.)

I stripped the gun last night and cleaned it and still with a good coating of gun oil it gets hung up in the same manner. I guess I will have to take it to a gunsmith and see what he thinks.

Something doesn't look right. First is the little semi-circular "dent" we saw before. Now there is a very shiny spot back further, opposite the ejector, and the recoil spring showing through the slide at what looks like the same place. Is that spring somehow kinked and causing the binding you mention?

I'd second what Jim Keenan said!

I almost suggested a new recoil spring yesterday, but then my PC went belly up and I spent the rest of the day messing with that.

It is very possible the old spring is kinking up in the hole and binding the slide up at full slide travel. Take it out and see if the slide operates smoothly without it.

Then, I'd order a new one from Wolff and see if that fixes it.

I still am not convenced that little burr on the frame rail is even hurting anything, let alone binding up the slide.
