I posted this on the Ruger forum but thought I would ask you good folks as well. The title pretty much sums it up. Since I don't get the chance to go hiking very often I am looking for a moderately priced holster that will keep the gun secure and fit well, it doesn't have to be leather. Thanks

Choose a holster that rides high on your hip and protects the firearm from damage and the eliments and make sure the trigger is covered. If it's a outside hammer gun make sure that the hammer is protected also. Other then that...Pick one. If price is a problem go with Hunter...

I suggest you look at A.E. Nelson Gunleather. I bought several holsters from them after trying out a model 392 - combination strong side/weak side within the same backing. Very tight to the body and offers ability to not HAVE to wear it the same depending on circumstances, weather, dress, etc. I got mine with a thumbsnap - my prefered retention method on non SD leather.

Thanks for the suggestions. It looks as if the Bianchi Cyclone 111 fits the bill as there is a model number specifically made for the 3" GP100 and has the features I am looking for.
