History Channel's "Top Shot" on Sunday night

ok, Denny the cowboy is a joke.

"I got this" and then it doesn't deliver. 2nd week in a row now. they better vote his ass off

alrighty, the red team (previously my favorite) is ridiculous ... if kelly loses the showdown i'm out. blue team's indignation at red's choice is right on, how denny gets another undeserved pass is beyond me. with how poorly some folks perform and still manage to stay in, i might as well be on there. can't do much worse than some of the favorites!

the format of the show has got to change in the next version if they continually let one of the better shooters get put up... top shot this ain't.

Once again Kelly proves that he is the top shot...third time in the elimination and he shows em all up again

maybe the others will stop crapping on him for once

They're trying to save the bad shooters so they can just roll right over them at the end (in theory at least). I love how Kelly just keeps winning, definitely my favorite red teamer.

Denny looked like he was going to do OK during training, but he just can't deliver when the team challenge starts...i can't believe he got a pass on the elimination either. of course, Kelly would have made shorter work of him...i thought Brad did pretty well. i thought the challenge should have been between Brad and Denny...neither one of them hit anything during the team challenge.

so next week it's every shooter for themselves with immediate elimination...that's what i've been waiting for. the throwing knives looked tough, if you get a case of nerves it changes your natural swing

Brad should have voted Denny for the challenge... Kelley continually exceeds expectations, while Denny seems to choke. Especially on challenges that would seem to be right in his wheelhouse.

Wow. What is it about Denny that they refuse to send him to the elimination regardless of performance?

I thought it was funny Brad made a comment that he voted for Kelly because he's not a versatile shooter. Funny, Kelly is a rifle shooter who hit a half sized can with a handgun. Brad is a handgun shooter who couldn't hit the full sized cans with a handgun. Denny, twice in a row opened the episode with "yee-haw, I'm so excited this is MY event" only to choke in the competition. How is Kelly the least versatile of the group? He's proven himself week after week to be the most consistent and most versatile on Team red by far. He is better at some events than others but he has never flat-outed choked (ala Mike in episode 1, or Denny the last two episodes). He's gone to the elimination challenge multiple times and has always come back, proving he can handle pressure. Denny can't even perform at his own events, so yeah I guess he is the most versatile in that he can be counted on to score a goose-egg consistently, regardless of event.

Unbelievable. It needed to be Brad and Denny in the elimination.

Good Lord I am glad Brad is gone! I couldn't stand his arrogance.

although i feel he has gotten a LITTLE better over the past couple episodes, remember... its not his fault!... It was the "grip angle" and not getting a "good throw".

This crap with Denny just pisses me off. The guy is a hack. Im sorry... but he hasn't fired a live round in years before attending "Top Shots"? Who was the Genius who thought he would be a good contestant?...

I really don't like the rat fink guy but he hit the nail on the head when he said something along the lines of what good ol' boy line did he feed you this time.

Although i was kinda bummed to see Andre lose because of the Poker deal (really didn't like seeing either Kelly or andre up the last time) but i think he wouldn't of done as well as kelly this event. Im glad Kelly was left to prove ONCE AGAIN that he is a force to be reckoned with.

Way to go Kelly!... As a younger shooter, nothing makes me happier than to see young guys take out the more "Seasoned" (hehehe) shooters.

JOe

well, at least kelly ended up surviving. unfortunately the red team sent up the wrong duo -- had they sent up denny and brad, brad likely would have won (didn't brad vote kelly instead of denny? -- if he voted denny instead then he'd still be in it, so hopefully he's kicked himself a few times for this lack of good judgement).

Some things finally happened last night that I'd been waiting for: Tara in a tank top and Brad going bye-bye. Personally, I have tried all three of the trick shots they featured and the soda can trick is certainly the hardest. I have never tried shooting clays but I'm heading out this morning with by Great Grandad's ancient 410 to give it a shot, especially now that I've been taught how to throw the clays up. Too bad Glock-boy didn't pay better attention to his instructor on that account.

Kelly has become my hero now. Yeah, I'm a sucker for the down-trodden. The goofy tape over his shooting googles is the best visual (apart from Tara in orange.) They just keep dumping on him and he just keeps coming through. What a let-down Cowboy Rusty...err...Denny has been.

I have come to love Monday mornings in this thread because of the beautiful balance of member criticism and moderator shilling. I don't think this show portrays shooters and shooting in a positive way. I am looking forward to rapid-fire eliminations however. The "nomination range" schtick has gotten so old.

* pauses, looks at word under his nickname on the left *

Nope, not a moderator, yet I like this show. Must be a glitch in the matrix. :D

The fact is, on any other reality show, Kelly would have been gone the first time he lost at the nomination range. On ANY other reality show, it's your social politicking skills alone that determine if you stay or go. There is an element of that in Top Shot, (Yes, Denny should have been eliminated in two shows ago), but in the end, whether you stay or go is based solely on whether you can out-shoot the guy beside you.

If you think the show is fixed, sic the FCC on them. Unless, of course, you think the FCC is also in the conspiracy and allows a fixed competition on a pro-gun show with close to two million viewers week in and week out.

I'm not a betting man, but that's not how I'd place my money. :D

Maybe the choice was made by someone interested in ratings. Sure has perked us up. I think (the drama sucks) the drama is the fluff that fills in the hour and the tension created by the drama is the cohesive part of the program. 'Course the shooting is central and the abilities of the shooters leads us to the.......DRAMA.
It would seem to me that the red team wants shed of the diversified talent (kelly) to open the door for $100,000.00.
26 pages and it keeps on going ang going and going.......
We need to change the name to "The Shooter's World Turns".

in all seriousness, though, i think the most recent episode had a lot less drama and "house stuff" than previous episodes. the scenes at the house were limited to both teams practicing (together) the throwing exercise, and then just a few seconds of chatting about the votes, etc. that's a lot better than the rat fink episode and behind-the-scenes bickering that was becoming all-too-familiar. i think on a shooting level, this last episode was an improvement.

I see that next week everyone is consolidated into one tribe, err... team. Looking forward to the run & gun style competitions from episode 1.

as a CRO and IDPA course designer/ safety consultant i am left wondering how much the cameras are affecting the team players or is it the caliber of the players that basically is lacking.
as our club rules will allow we have copied many of the 'games' as seen on TV. i am left thinking that we are exceptionally good ( i am seriously doubting this--if we are this good why ain't we famous?) or the reds & blues choak when the camera is on them.
well, i do find the program somewhat more interesting than 'Nanny Knows Best' but less than Sky King:cool:

I agree why is Denny still there! I'm sure he's a nice guy but "Top Shot" he is not!

I'm really glad that Kelly beat Brad in the last elimination challenge. Kelly may be the youngest but he seems like the most mature person on the show and always proves himself when challenged. Maybe after winning this last elimination challenge he'll get a little more respect from his teammates.

I'm really looking forward to when the dissolve the teams completely and it becomes everyone for them self, I think the show will get a lot more interesting at that point.

I've got to challenge that little gem of a statement. What "shilling" are you talking about? Not a single moderator here on THR is a shill for anyone or anything including a television reality show. To even suggest that is rather disingenuous.

Some moderators, including myself, have given opinions or comments on the show, but that certainly isn't shilling.
