The decock button by the hammer is one of the better ideas to come along. Now that I've used it for about a year, it's one of the those slap your forehead "why didn't I think of that" innovations.

ceetee said, Yeah, except that CZ used it on their Model 110 over a decade ago.

I thought the CZ110 had a frame mounted decock lever on the left grip...no?

Even though it makes me want to ask, "How much for just the little dessicant pack?"

Given the amount of litigation surrounding Silicates of late, that little packet may be the sole reason for the inhumane price :)

Hmmm

Gratz on the purchase...looks like a nice one!

Lil big to be considered 'compact' tho aint it?

Sorry for the brief thread hijack:

Not a great pic, but you can see the decocker set into the rear of the frame. On the CZ 100, that portion of the frame is smooth. The 110's were never imported into the US for whatever reason. Our loss.

Back on point, how much does this HK look like the old CZ G-2000?

Excellent review on the new P30. I've been very interested in picking one up to possibly move my USP from the holster every day. Why? Primarily the rail... Yeah, as simple as that... Maybe looks department too, since the P30 has much better lines than the old blocky USP.

Although, until some good accuracy reports come back on this weapon, I think I'll continue to save the cash for the HK45.

maybe im wrong, but if its da/sa, cant you jack a round into the chamber, take out mag, add another round, reinsert mag, and then it will run straight sa?? Also on my walther p99, you can load it fully and precock to run full sa, meaning first shot is not da, but first and all shots are sa, then you can decock to go back to da for first shot, etc. Does hk do this?? If so is it really necessary to have it sao anyway. Not dogging, just curious. I like the looks of the gun and imm trying to decide on p3o, p2000, p99c, or the new slim walther single stack 9mm for next gun. Looking at the m&p's to. Great write up.

usp9 is correct in that you could run the P30 as SAO and rely on the firing pin and hammer blocks as the only safeties, but I dont think many people are going to be too comfortable doing so.

Let me know what you ultimately decide on and perhaps your thoughts as you evaluate. I am going through a similar evaluation of the similar/same models including:

S&W MPc .40
HK P2000SK .40 LEM
P99C QA .40
Maybe and its a big maybe PPS, since it is 9mm. I have a compact 9 I am satisfied with for carry.

Don't think the P30 will make my short list.

You could email me at [email protected] or do a PM.

Thanks.

Tecumseh, I had a same question i.e. how does it compare to P2000.
After carefull review of both items I came to conclusion that there is not any different except minor ones. I think HK has let me down on this one. I had bought P2000, and now they come out with P30 with no significant improvements. Just generating revenues from those who buy any think HK makes, or from those who didnt have P2000. I dont know how to put up picture here or I would and you would see that there is NO difference- just higher price.

If you are still watching this thread, what are your thoughts on the P30 after a couple of months of having this pistol. I just picked one up over the weekend- traded a S+W .40 and a few bucks for one. Really appreciated your review and read it before deciding on "pulling the trigger" on the deal. You are absolutely right in that I think it is the most comfortable handgun I have held (not fired yet). It does get a little heavy when you load up that 15 round mag though. People have made points about the price being high for a 1/2 polymer pistol but I think the gun would be too heavy for my use as all steel with the fully loaded mag. Maybe ok for service carry but not CCW. IMHO. You made a point about FTF on some ammo but thought it would be fine after some dry firing. I was always under the impression that was bad for a semi-auto but was probably true for the older guns. What does this do? Just loosen the springs and such? Kind of new to the whole semi-auto world and was curious. Thanks again.

Great Review,
I bought my wife a P30 for Christmas and she is shooting great with it. She is 5' 4" and 135lbs and finds the weapon fitting her wonderfully. She shot at least 15 different DA and SA semis before we settled on the P30 and she is extreamly happy with it. The only thing she would like to see is a different sight on it. She is consistantly shooting 3" low but grouping 3" groups at 40 ft. A shorter front sight is available from HK according to the manual but they don't have any right now. Guess we'll have to wait and see who comes up with a good after market one. Paid $750.00 for it and no buyers remorse at all. She loves it and shoots it well and that's all that matters to me.

It looks interesting, and it can use 15 round magazines, meaning that the P2000 now has its own 15 rounders.

Still.. 'spensive. Then again, two mags, multiple grips, and a case...

I dunno. Still iffy on the new HK's.

(I'm a dyed in the wool USP fan.)

After shooting my H&K (USPc .40) for the first time today, I have to say that I love H&K pistols! They shoot sooo nice and are built like tanks. I held a P30 at a local Sportsman's Warehouse and will admit that it is the best feeling pistol money can buy. The ergos are unbeatable.

I also fondled all the M&Ps, and was not impressed. I'm sure they are great pistols and everyone on the internet raves about them, but they just don't feel right in my hand. I find them almost UNcomfortable in my hand...like something is awkward or unbalanced. The trigger wasn't too bad though. Definitely 100x better than the trigger on my buddies SW40 that I shot today.

thank you for the great review. Do you have any thoughts on the accuracy of the P30? As a female beginner, 5'2" 120lbs, I would like to do competition. I tried the Sig 229 and numerous HKs (not the P30).
I have it narrowed down to the Sig 229 platinum elite or the P30. The P30 just felt so much better in my hand, however, most people say I should get a metal gun for competition. Any thoughts?
thanks

Accuracy of HK30 is outstanding. It is comparable to BHP or even 1911 in 9 mm. It is a great gun overall, all the bash here notwithstanding. And you can get it for around $750 OTD. P30 is the size of G19, but you get far superior ergonomics, much better accuracy, equal reliability and SA/DA. Compared to Sig 229, it is a polymer vs aluminum, but again P30 fits every hand. Trigger is comparable, but I like P30 better.

anyone carrying it daily and if so in what holster? looking at adding a P30 and curious about the cost of magazines and if nights sights are available? thanks

Great review, well written and concise. I entertained an HK several months ago, but eventually bought an Angus Custom Shop SP-01 in 9mm. After the dust settled, I spent just under $900.00.

Still can't believe I paid that much for a 9mm pistol. It ain't 1980 anymore:rolleyes:
