I am very interested in the new HK VP9, but I want it in .40 cal! I am sure I am not the only one. I have a glock 23 gen4 that I've had for a year and I just cannot shoot it well. I despise the obnoxious glock hump, though I've shot a glock 19 very well in IDPA for many years. I have a shield .40 that I do shoot very well in our BUG matches and it is my EDC. I would love a VP40 to shoot in IDPA.

Are we going to have to wait for HK 4 years to develop one in .40?

I thank you ahead of time for sharing your thoughts!

No. H&K only deals in making superior weapons over the other lesser brands and the 40 s&w is inferior to a good 9mm modern JHP load these days........

Sorry... Just had to do it!!! Love my VP9!

Maybe that is the reason H&K P30;s are so hard to find in 40 S&W. I would really have preferred that to 9 when I bought mine but couldn't find it.

I've heard a rumor on here in a different thread that the friend of a friend's sister's dentist heard that a 40 and 45 cal are coming. No idea if it's true or a timeframe. I suspect the 40 will come soon.

I have always been an HK fan, but I guess I never got my fanboy card. I had high hopes for the VP based on the articles and reviews. Unfortunately, I was underwhelmed. The trigger pull and reset on the example I held was no better than the typical Glock. Build quality is good, of course, but I was expecting better trigger characteristics.

You should do yourself a favor and try to get your hands on a Walther PPQ to see how you like it.

Word over at HKPro (supposedly from the higher ups at HK) is that the next release will be a VP40 followed at some point by a VP45 (!). No idea of the time frame. If you have to have a .40 you could do a lot worse than a P30.

I'm a bit on the fence as to which I like more, my VP9 or my P30S. Both are amazing shooters. My P30S has a trigger job by Gray Guns so it's about as good as an HK DA/SA is gonna get. But subjectively the stock VP9 isn't far behind. Everything about it is superb IMOHO, albeit with just 500 rounds through it so far.

I agree with el boricua but still I would love to see the HK/VP in .40 & .357Sig

I see no need for a 40. It is quickly falling out of favor, just from what I see in the past 2 years. The 9mm and 45 are the 2, I carry, one for the amount of rounds, and the other for the larger hole. The in-between rounds are just annoying, and to provide extra ammo for each caliber when there really is very little to no difference.. Some guys love them, but I doubt they ever had to use their gun for anything but target practice.
It just make more sense to have a few cases of 2 pistol caliber rounds, rather than a few cases of several, some guys have a dozen calibers. Which I understand if there is a need as per competition, but not for protection.
A45 is the best thing to have if you need to stop a man that is within 20 feet of you, of course a 50cal would be better, just not practical
