Here is one I took with my Marlin 1895GS in 45-70 using a hand cast 464gr bullet.

He had big tusks, yes, but he was not very very big. I bought this scale in ebay.uk and it is in kg and lbs – I don’t know if you use any of these measures.

The pointer is almost at 90kg position. I have already caught bigger ones with much smaller tusks, so there is no obvious connection between one thing and another. And we in Europe have at least two kinds of boars (spread to all countries): ones have longer heads and are more thin in the body, and others have smaller heads and fat bodies (the heads can be bent also, at the nose). If you see some Romanian or French driven hunts videos in the web you can easily see the differences. That are some dvd’s floating around the torrents that are made by a northern europe company called “Hunters video” or something like that, and they have lots of stuff about European boars hunts. Nova Toma (Spanish) has also lots of stuff on boars.

Strings for youtube:

Wild boars in French: sanglier (singular) or sangliers (plural)
Wild boars in spanish: Jabali or Jabalis

Wow, that is interesting. I would've guessed at least 200 lbs based on not much, I guess. :)

Like the Terrorist Pic. :D

The dog looks ashamed to be in the pic with you.

That guide gun has got to be good Pig Medicine, Tcrocker.

Those hogs musta been good eatin.

Always good to get the wifey involved, too. Makes it easier to get her support when you need a new gun, ammo, hunting equipment, etc. ;)

Yes yes… he rather be alone with the boars, lolol. But I just can’t leave him with them, or he will literally f*** the meat, lololol

It’s one in the morning here. Time to go roooo fiiiiuuuuuuuu :D

Yep the 1895 does a real good job on hos and deer. It just punches a big hole right through most things. I took one hog last year that stoped this bullet just shy of the off side shoulder but it did break both front legs. The case in the pic is a 30-06.

"Got the pig in the ground, got some beer on ice and all my rowdy friends are coming over tonight"
Here piggiy piggy

Look what happens when you ask someone else to take you a picture, lolol:

Don't feel bad. Look what I got! In my buddies defence, he WAS trying to take that picture with a game camera. It was actually kinda funny watching him shake it up and down trying to get it to take a picture.

Lololol I bet he had to take a few pics to get it right, especially if the game camera doesn’t have a lcd screen.

Hum… no ear shot for that one, lol

Christ, you use shorts at night hunts? I have to pile up 5 or 6 pairs of trousers in winter nights and at least 2 in summer. Sometimes I do that so the bugs don’t eat me (when I am near water), to avoid the cold (usually temperature never goes below -1 or -2 degrees Celsius at night even in winter, except in deep valleys, but because we have to stay real quiet for several hours we feel the cold very well if not properly covered with clothes lol), or simply to be comfortable and not feel the damn rocks on the ground. And thinsulate terrorist hats are a must (sometimes I use two at the same time), and gloves.

Temperature usually keeps steady until 23 pm, then drops suddenly. At 2 or 3 Am comes the mist. Optics should be well covered by then, with butle creek covers or similar, or we will not see a cow in front of us.

That’s a 12 caliber shotgun pump action in the pic, yes?

Nope that camera didn't have an LCD screen.

That's a Mossberg 500 w/ 18" barrel and collapsible stock. Nope, not a head shot. Through and through both lungs. We didn't intend to shoot a hog that day. We went out to check the feeder and the camera and he walked into the opposite side of the clearing as we did. I had the 12 gauge loaded with slugs with me more for general purpose than anything else.

That's also the reason I was wearing shorts. I usually wear long pants and long sleever shirts because of the bugs and ticks and pricker bushes. In the spring, summer and fall I wear light weight stuff that has little holes through it like a football jersey. In the winter I may have to wear sweats under them and take them off by noon.

Bugs aren't a problem anymore now that I have a Therma-Cell. Those things are the greatest thing ever invented for a pig hunter in the swamps.

Didn’t know about that therma cell thing but went now to ebay to look for it. I was shocked to know it uses heat produced by a butane cartridge :scrutiny: The forest would probably end up in fire, lol. I guess I’ll keep on using several layers of clothes and a spray lololol

Fernando, order a Therma-cell ASAP. There is no fire hazard, I wear them on my belt.

I don't understand why, but the game doesn't seem to smell them.

“Fernando, order a Therma-cell ASAP. There is no fire hazard, I wear them on my belt.”

That thing has a blue color, lol! You are trying to put me in jail lololol. This summer has been very hot here, we don’t see rain in most parts of the country for more than a month now, and there is lots of fires active every day. Our news shown photos of NASA this week (taken from some satellite of yours) where several smoke crowds and night fires can be seen. They are not as big as the fires in Russia, but several firefighters have died already, especially in north of the country.

Link to your NASA photo:
http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/NaturalHazards/view.php?id=45225

Photo was taken on the 13th, but we had several fires active in EVERY SINGLE DAY before and after that date. There were days with more than 100 actives fires.

But that therma-cell sure looks tempting in ebay.uk though, because it costs less than 50 of your dollars (about 36 euros) and that is less than a box of ammo. May be I get it for the winter, lololol.

Ps: if we want to avoid the customs taxes we can only buy stuff from European countries, UK included although they don’t use our currency (euro).

Wow, nice shootin, FLA!

I was about to ask if that was slugs you used, but read your next post.

You did that with an 18" pump 12 ga slug with no sights but the bead?

May I ask what range?

That's pretty nice.

I've often wondered bout takin my 870 18" with slugs but only have bead as well.

Want rifle sights on it bad, but too much trouble to install and don't feel good about how precise they'd be if put on aftermarket.

P.S. What kind of slug did you use? I'd love to use a Brenneke, but figured my Federal Power Shok at 1610 fps would do just fine.

You can get it done cheaper...friend did. After about two years his starting smelling really bad. The hide needs to be tanned because its so full of fat and pig oil.
