came across a good deal on a 1911 today probably gonna go back tomorrow and take it home with me :) however it has a tac rail on the bottom wondering will it fit standard holsters or am I gonna have an issue finding a holster for it? also I'm a lefty which makes things even more fun :)

I have ordered a couple of holsters that asked that question but I don't know if it actually causes the holster to be made differently/ I'd check with the manufacturer before ordering

You will need to get a holster for a railed 1911. However, not all rails are the same, so you will need to specify what rail and 1911 it is before you buy the holster.

Rails on 1911's have been around for a few years so most of the makers have them available.

With most of the quality makers, ordering on-line, you shouldn't have too much trouble getting a lefty holster for a railed 1911. However, you may have some trouble walking into a gun store and finding one.

Some companies I've had good experiences with are

High Noon for leather.

Garrett Industries for leather lined kydex

Raven Concealment a very versatile kydex holster that lets you wear it either IWB or OWB.

There are many more out there making great stuff. I'm sure more forum members will soon chime in with their favorites.
