Home carry

I only carry a tiny North American Arms .22 revolver when I'm at home. It's light enough that it doesn't even weigh down gym shorts, anything larger and I know I wouldn't carry it at my house.

I live in the country with a 120 yard long driveway, but soon after I moved in and was working on the house I opened my door to go down into the garage and saw a dude standing in the stairs looking up at me. My only immediate weapons was a small knife in my pocket, and the cordless drill that was in my hand.

He had the guts to walk into my open garage door and start going up the steps, his story was he knew there was a house for rent in the area and wanted to know if it was mine. I told him my house absolutely was not for rent and he certainly wasn't welcome to just waltz in like that. I'm pretty sure his story was legit because the entire time he was staring at the drill gun in my hand and seemed concerned about what I was going to do with it. Since that time I've worked from home on several occasions and have watched cars pull all the way back my driveway just to turn around. I go out to "meet" them and they quickly drive away. So I don't think I'm being paranoid by carrying 100% of the time. I do live in a safe area, and I intend to keep it that way.

I either have the Rohrbaugh R9 or the Remington RM380 in a pocket. When I don't have pants on, a larger gun is within reach.
That second sentence might need a little refinement.

Ok, seriously though, I have been thinking about picking up one of the new model LCPs for extreme heat days and just to have in my pocket at home. They are so small I don't think I'd even realize it was there. But there are three loaded guns in my home as it is. I just can't see myself not being able to get to one of them quickly.

I carry at home more often than on the road. Glock 41. With an Ar15 nearby hanging on the wall ready with 60 rounds in/on it.

I have the option of avoiding trouble areas on the road, at home, I'm stuck with what I have. And while I'm exceptionally safe in my little country town, we've had our share of completely unpredictable wackos.

I used to get dressed, put a Glock 26 on when I did it and it stayed there until I went to bed. Good idea. Then I got old and I've recently stopped that. First of all, I'm retired. In the summer I put on a pair of cargo shorts and a T-shirt, 115 degrees right now and it hasn't got to the hottest part of the day yet. I stash a Glock 42 in a holster in my cargo pocket. If I decide to go somewhere, then I put on a pair of pants with a belt gun and throw a Hawaiian shirt over it. In the winter I put on sweats and pocket carry and change when I go out.

Yes, some things are just a habit to do every day/night.

Morning: Put my pants on, take yesterdays pants and transfer all items over to my "today" pants. Wallet, knife, streamlight, NAA 22wmr, pocket change etc. Grab my primary gun, throw my yest pants in hamper so my lady wont be mad, and go.

Not only is it on me for quick access but as long as it is on me its safe from kids or house guests. I live in a safe place if there is such a thing, but i like having life ins for me and my family.

Only time I carry at home is on weekends. Usually just a j-frame. That doesn't mean I'm not ready.......lol.
I got in the habit of keeping doors locked most of the time anyway.
I agree with Ninja, my home is secure, especially when I'm there.
Besides, I have a ''no trespassing'' sign out front. That's all you really need, right? HA-HA

Yep. When my pants go on, my gun goes on.

If I'm not wearing pants, my armchair gunsafe is within reach.

Ain't got nothing with feeling safe in my home (though daylight armed robberies are getting more common even in "safe" neighborhood), its just habit.
I'm the same except I don't use a gun safe. If my Sig P938 isn't on my person, it's right next to me - cocked and locked.

My toddler makes that a tricky proposition, so the guns are locked up if they ain't on my hip. My pair of four legged security alarms should give me the 3-5 seconds I'd need to get into the safe.

I never carry in the house, but I like to pack along my Blackhawk or GP100 whenever I leave the front yard. Both are great woods guns, and I always feel safer with one of them on my belt.

Also, if I run out of shots, I can just use the gun as a club because the damn things weigh so much!:D

Once I wake up and get dressed I'm armed. If I'm in bed or the shower I'm not but one is right close and handy. There have been some break ins close by lately and the folks were home when it happened, so in the event I get company I'd like to be prepared. I have carried any time I'm awake for quite a while and I'm just used to it, so unless I'm going somewhere I can't carry its on me.

I don't carry when I'm at home. If I'm out back working in the yard I have the front doors locked and the alarm on, along with a very imposing dog to meet and greet any unwanted visitors.

To each his own........... Speaking for myself, I don`t feel the need to cowboy up and carry in the house.
I do carry when out on my property as running into a rattlesnake is not a if but a when.

I have a full house alarm and some perimeter alarms around my property in key locations. I always carry around the house inside and out. My property on one side borders the I-95 right of way. Once a local State Trooper told me that on one end of I-95 is Miami and on the other end is NY City. He called I-95 the criminals parkway. He said anyone living along I-95 should be armed and also said if you have to use I-95 don't even thing about stopping at one of the rest areas.

Anti's attempt to burden us with defining a threat that justifies our having a gun. They'll ask something like "Who needs a gun at a ballgame?".

Few have to justify having a timepiece at say, a movie. I believe for us, carrying a gun is like having a watch. We put them on and they go where we go.

Why fall for their trap when the "place" is a home?

I wake up, put on several items. They stay with me wherever I happen to be.

For those that do, and live somewhere where you can not legally off your property - don't forget "you have it in your pocket" if you run out to the store etc. :p

Yep.
Home and property is the only place I can carry.
Requires paying attention.
Gotta love California.
J frame in the pocket.

along with a very imposing dog to meet and greet any unwanted visitors.

My first wife's uncle had a pair of very imposing Doberman dogs, until the scumbags threw a couple of poisoned steaks over the fence, then they had lots of missing insured property and thousands of dollars in vet bills :(
