If this is braggin', so be it!

Back in the last century I tried my hand at holster making. Got pretty good at it but lost my zeal for the work. Decided to leave that to the professionals. But here is one I made, back around 1975 or so:

Here is the same holster some forty five years later:

That is the same gun, so the date is around 1981 or so, as I acquired the gun 1n 1979. And, yes, I got rid of that beavertail hammer!

Not only is that very nice but it has also stood the test of time.

    Nice holster.

So what is the gun that is in the holster? It looks a lot like my Interarms Virginian Dragoon.

It is a Ruger Super Blackhawk. The barrel has been cut to 5" and the frame case hardened by Doug Turnbull.

    Bob,

Great holster, a copy of the EK version of the 3Persons?

Why did you swap out the hammer?

Looks more like displaying art work than bragging, nice work.

The holster is my rendition of the Lawrence No. 120 that Keith so favored.

I swap out the hammers on all my Super Blackhawks. The narrow hammer spur sort of "digs" into the flesh of my thumb giving me a more positive grip. I don't feel as secure with that wide beavertail hammer spur.

Your loss of zeal is the gun world's loss. Nice holster.
