Hoppe's High Performance Gun Grease Question

I bought some Hoppe's Step 4 High Performance Gun Grease. It comes out like a thick oil, not grease-like at all. I put some on the slide rails of a semi-auto pistol and it runs out when the slide cycles. The plunger is extremely tight, I had to clean up the floor when I forced the plunger down and it finally broke loose, it shot out in a stream, not like any grease I've ever used. Is this normal?

Grease doesn't have a standard consistency

BTW, if you're an older Veteran you might remember LSA lube. It was a grease.
