Anyone have any experience with the Hornady 124 gr. 9mm XTP JHP ? Mainly reliablity, I'll be running them in a CZ 75B. With ammo in short supply and getting more expensive I can't run a few hundred rounds to see how it works just yet, so any opinions or personal results would be helpful. -Thanks

very reliable profile, and very accurate. The design of the bullet is old technology, but still pretty reliable. I have some loaded and like them quiet well, I prefer the gold dot over an xtp for carry though. One of the main "cons" of this bullet is that it is not a bonded bullet and does have some jacket core separation issues.

edit: I do load these for my 9mm, but I mainly use the xtp in my 357 mag in a 158g bullet for woods bummin around and I use the 240g xtp flavor in .44 magnum for deer hunting with my anaconda. I did get a full pass through on a medium sized doe at around 40 yards this year.

I've run them in 9mm the wife's SP2022 and .45ACP in a few different guns. The stuff is reliable and accurate. It's all I buy for the 9mm & .45 zombie stash.

I handload and run 124 gr XTP in my Ruger P89. Never had a fail, plenty accurate.

Hornady makes good bullets; the XTPs across the board are excellent. That bullet in my CZs needs to be seated to about 1.090" OAL to stay off the lands.

A few years back I bought 1,000 124 grain XTP bullets and they all have long since been stored in our club's pistol berm. Function was flawless in all our 9mm guns and accuracy was outstanding.

They've worked equally well in 357 Sig albeit in smaller lots.

I've run 124 Gr. XTP in Glock 26 and in 17L ,and have had excellent results with both barrel lengths . Good expansion and penetration .

According to Hornady's 2008 Catalog, fired from a Glock 19, the 9mm 124 gr. XTP expands to 0.61" and penetrates to 13" against bare gelatin, and expands to 0.49" and penetrates to 18.75" against heavy clothing.
