Up to now the only powder I've dispensed with this machine is Varget. With Varget it will overthrow once in a great while, maybe 1 out 20 loads. I always run the machine on slow.

Today I ran Hodgdon CFE223 through it and it overthrows 99% of the time. The only way I could get the machine to work is to target about 4 grains less, then bump it with the trickle button to sneak up on the real target.

Anyone here have similar issues with the Hornady dispenser and figured out a way around it?

I have a Chargemaster, and I get overthrows about 50% of the time with ball powders. I know I could probably mod it to make it work better, but I will live. I only run ball powders thru my CM when doing load work ups. My suggestion is that if you have a load that works, just use a rotary drop.

Not sure if you can mess with the settings like you can with the CM.

Contact Hornady for they have a parameter in the dispenser to make it more accurate. I would recommend the straws mods. The smaller tube will help a lot. I have the RCBS unit with the tube mods (brass). I do not have any problems with over shoots.

I've got the Hornady Auto Charge, I picked up the Brass Mod (ebay) and rarely have issues with any powder. I've used it on Varget and with W231. Maybe 1 out of 20 will be an overthrow? I measured my tube and he sent me one that worked great. And Hornady does have more adjustments available to fine tune the drops.
