Hornady LNL AP broken pawl does not come out!!!!

For whatever reason during todays reload session the right pawl broke. Called Hornady CS, no problem, will send free replacement. Thought I would get everything ready for the part and take out the old pawl. IT WILL NOT COME OUT. I spent over an hour trying to get it out. The piece thats left inside is so short that nothing is protruding so that you can use a tool on it. It only goes back and forth a bit as there must be a spring behind somewhere. I even tried to drill it out...a exercise in futility, the pawl resists drilling (yet breaks, go figure). Anybody else ever have this problem? I guess I have to tell Hornady to send me that entire piece that houses the 2 pawls....

There is a spring behind the pawl. pull the handle down or up so the pawl is facing down, you did take the screw out right? and tap on the cast piece with a plastic mallet or hammer handle, Lightly tap tap tap and the pawl section should vibrate its way out and fall out.

Odd...I recently broke one. After I took the screw out, the spring popped the other piece out.

No dice, entire toggle needs to be replaced.

spoke to hornady cs today and told them my story. they wanted me to try the following, take a round file and smooth out the channel the pawl sits in. already did that yesterday with sand paper, but I gave it a try anyway. nothing. as a final step i widened the channel with a drill, banged with a hammer and got my rare earth magnet - pawl still refusing to come out. this must be the pawl from hell. called CS again and they are sending a complete toggle with new pawl, etc. i will send them the bad unit so they can see what the problem was.
