Hornady LnL off to the shop

I have documented 82,900 rounds through my LnL. Recently started having trouble with the shell plate base coming loose. There are two set screws at the top of the ram. One seems to be stripped. At first I needed to tighten it up at the primer reload, no big deal. Finally got to needing tightened a few times each 100 rounds. Called Hornady and talked to the tech folks. They said send it in, probably needs a new ram. We'll replace it and look for other problems, no charge.

So, off it went yesterday. Fed Ex says about a week to get there for $20.

I'll update when it gets back.

I have a few (thousand) rounds made up and three of my local friends have bought the LnL this year, so I should be OK while it's gone. I miss it already.
 
When it comes back, put a little blue loctite on the screws before you tighten it up. Should fix it coming loose again. Also, if you have it, use a torque wrench and set the tightness to Hornady's torque spec. You'll have to call and ask them what it is. They should have one.

Just got back from a trip to see my daughter receive her Masters in Education. The LnL was delivered while I was gone. Had an entire page of fixes/repairs/replacements. Looks good. Have not gotten it set up yet. Will do so in the next few days.

All work done, NO CHARGE. My total out of pocket for the rebuild was the $19 of shipping, which I thought was more than fair for me to pay.
 
I did the math...what you paid in shipping added 0.000229191 cents to each of your 82,900 reloads.

I'm off to find a L-n-L...
 
I set it back up tonight and ran 200 9mm through it. Looks like they completely rebuilt the ram/pawl/hub assembly. Feels like new. Only issue I had was with the new primer feed housing bottom was a bit rough. Snagged a few primers. I put the old slick one back on and problem solved. I recall working this part over when new to get it smooth.

I'm happy.
 
That's excellent news! I am glad to hear that Hornady's warranty is as good and Dillon's and RCBS to name a few.
 
Didn't do a round count maintenance. Have a little grease gun at the bench and hit the grease points every few weeks/months depending on level of use.
