How about some 1911s

An excellent collection of 1911s! The grips are great too, each pair with a look and personality all their own. Got to love the melted Colt Officer's Model ACP with that beautifully deep bluing!

Very nice custom work done to your Colt CCO! Has to make for one well designed and built gun for CCW.

One of the first LDA from Para Ord

How do you like that LDA? I have one in 9mm that is utterly unreliable. It refuses to feed the first round from a full mag which means no +1. And for a fast reload I would have to down load the mag by 1. That being the case I'm better off carrying a much lighter UL revolver. I sure wish it worked because it's a great shooter when it wants to feed.

Kind of an old picture ... from when I was a big Kimber fan.

I quit buying Kimber's when they came out with the Kimber II models so they could pass the
California drop test ... my last one:

Colt 9mm race gun I came across at a show ... finally found an optic rail and someone
wanted it more than me, but that didn't take much, I could never get used to the trigger.

Early Delta Gold Cup ... I used it well but even well used another that went to a new home
because someone wanted it for more than I could say no to ... it was my only 10mm but I
do regret letting it go.

I was born in '57, this one was a gift from my lovely wife for my 57th birthday,
a factory fully engraved 1957 Colt National Match ... and yes I've shot it but its mostly
a safe queen!

Just purchased my first 1911. I'm looking forward to getting to the range. It's a Springfield Armory mil spec Defender and chambered in .45ACP. I tried a similar Kimber at the range but this one actually felt better in my hand and better fit my budget.

Apologies for not being able to find a thread that already addresses this specifically--

my new Springfield Armory 1911 pictured above, a few posts back, is super fun, and I had better groups the first time out than with any of my other guns (I'm still new at this but have gone to the range many times over the last year and a half). My question is: why is the magazine resisting the first cartridge loaded? it feels like something obstructs the guide when I press the cartridge down into it. The problem doesn't exist when I push the spring with only my finger, without the round. This only happens on the first load. I really have to force it down, and every load thereafter is perfectly fine and easy to load. Any ideas or home remedies?

I think this thread would place a smile on Mr. Browning's face. It's a testament to his genius that we're still talking about the gun 110 years later. All of these are fine examples of his work.
