I’m cleaning up “my room”, making the wife happy and I come across an extra 625, moon clips, holders and demoon tool that I forgot about and hadn’t shot in 11 years or so to know it would work as a backup when I shot revolver at Nationals. Being in the cleaning spirit, I thought, I should trade it off for something else I want. Now I have been sitting here looking around for two hours on the Internet trying to entice myself into wanting something, with no luck. I guess I’d go back to cleaning now...
I was cleaning earlier and the only thing I found was a old chicken nugget. Wish I had some of yalls luck. Happy hunting out there and please posts pics of whatever you acquire.
I dream about firearms I forgot I had......then I wake up. I know if I forgot about a 625 I owned, I'd be wonderin' what else have I lost?
O.L.D., perhaps? <ducking> Yeah, when I get in the mood to clean/re-org a section of my bunker, it is like Christmas 'cause something(s) nice that I have forgotten about always gets unearthed. Nothing (yet) as nice as a 625, though.
Yep, like being all dressed up and nowhere to go. I find myself in the same boat - selling a few odds and ends. I’m using the extra cash to finish some firearm projects that have been sitting around.
I was once moving out of an old rent house and was checking under the attic decking to make sure none of my stuff had rolled under it. I found a fully loaded Colt's Official Police .38 Special under the plywood right next to the access hatch. From the look of the flaking nickel it had been there at least 20 years. I hadn't put it there, but figured whoever had probably wasn't ever coming back for it. Aside from the exterior finish it was in pretty good shape. Not having much use for a fixed sight 4 inch .38, I ended up giving it to a friend's daughter when she moved out on her own.
I had a pair of 5" 625's left over from my USPSA days. Gave them to a couple nephews. Now there stuck with them. It actually felt good to give the revolvers and bucket of major reloads away.
jmorris: For adults nowadays, the UPS/Fedex or Amazon truck is Santa's sleigh pulled by reindeer. Maybe we are addicted to something new arriving now and then. Even "beaver barf" reddish furniture, which arrived days ago for the Czech VZ-58.
How? Every gun I have ever bought was a long-considered purchase that I remember nearly 50 years later.
I can say with complete confidence that I've never fogotten a gun that I own. But isn't that exactly what I'd say if I HAD forgotten one...?
Sounds like a good excuse I can use sometime. “Gee honey. I don’t know where I got this gun. It’s been so long ago I forgot about it.”
I was rummaging around the other day and found six Ruger BX-25 mags I forgot I had, I also found the additional XD45 mags I was looking for. I haven't "forgotten" a gun yet. But I did spend two weeks looking for a Vortex Red Dot I thought I had. I had come to the conclusion that I only had two of them....then Saturday I unzip the case holding two of my AR pistols and there it was. Right where I left it. On a PSA 9mm.
Most experience i have with finding things I don't know i have is finding a extra box of ammo or two. Always a sweet surprise. Maybe when i'm older and have more money I'll find guns placed in odd end places like that.
I picked up a zip up gun case one time, and it was heavy. I said "hmm, there's a gun in here." My wife said, "see, I told you have too many." It was a Sears branded Winchester 94. I knew I had it though, just forgot about putting it there. That was pre-safe owning days when I had them stashed allover the house.
