how do you find out the year of a gun

    need some help on how to get the year on some guns. thanks

    It depends on the particular make and model of each gun. Information is available for some, but not for others.

    Therefore post the make, model (if you know what it is) and serial number (use "xx" for the last 2 numbers). A good description helps. A picture is usually even better.

    Pistols imported by CZ-USA have the last two numbers of the year stamped behind the ejection port.

    Depends on the gun

    Many gun websites have production year info

    Ruger
    Taurus
    Remington

    Just do a search the only thing you will not find is smith and wesson or Dan Wesson

    Sig will tell you the date your Sig was made if you call their customer service department.

    Fjestad's Blue Book of Gun Values has year listings for quite a few guns.

    There are Winchester, Colt, Smith & Wesson books that have extensive info.
