How long did it take for your Concealed Carry License to come in?

Kentucky 60 days (first of year)

Almost exactly 60 days from mid Jan 07 till Mid Mar 07. Instructors said that was to be expected, it is a bit slower (more participants in classes) in winter months.

The law in Minnesota says that the county sheriff must issue the permit within 30 days. Mine took exactly 30 days.

I got the call mine was ready 8 weeks after I submitted my application/prints/$. This was 2 years ago

(Douglas County, Colorado)

The time it's taking in Arkansas right now is ridiculous. 4 months is typical. Mine took 4 months 3 weeks and only came after I wrote the Regulatory Services Division of the AR State Police. Then I had to email the person who responded twice to get it mailed.

Mine only took about 60 days. Florida has an option where you can pay an extra fee to have electronic fingerprints made and sent directly via computer for background check. This saves several months time compared to processing of paper prints. Well worth it.

Anyone counting any required training in the times?

My Virginia CCW took about 2 weeks. Required training was waived based on prior military experience. At least there were no questions concerning my "need" for one. That might have elicited a "grumpy old man" response.

I guess I shouldn't complain about the regulatory hassle with CCW's since a lot of states seem to be relaxing their stance on them. If I live long enough I might understand the political logic of controlling crimes committed by guns by making it difficult for folks who follow the legal steps in purchasing and making it even more difficult for those who want to carry them out of sight, or at all, and are willing to go through the legal steps to do so. I'm sure criminals and criminals in training pay strict attention to the gun control laws. Of course, that dead horse has been beaten so many times that horses ought to be on the endangered species list.

the place: Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
the time: August, 2003
the duration between initial application and final approval: 3 weeks

factors: I am a Pennsylvania native and steady resident for 24 + years before relocating out of state for 8 years and returning in 2003; my original driver's license # was still 'active' and I was reissued my original when I returned in 2003; nothing more than a few moving violations and a car accident; honorable discharge from U.S. Army Reserve; PA has one of the 'easiest' processes for obtaining CCW...but we also have one of the lowest reciprocacy rates in the Union...I sometimes wonder if the only reason Florida recognizes PA CCW is due to the high volume of 'seasonal snowbirds' that come from PA for the winter :p

Haven't received mine yet, but supposidly in the county I live in it takes 3.5 weeks to hit your mailbox. They have up to 45 days legally to do it.

In town here, it took me about 30-40 minutes. The digital reader wasn't reading my "rolled" prints worth a dang and my rolled inked ones weren't any clearer. Seems that I have naturally very shallow lands and grooves (I work in an office so it's not from solvents or abrasives).
I explained to the officer that I had just passed a full-tilt 10-year federal background check as I work at the local airport, that I know most of the local and county police personally as my Dad is a local fireman with over 20 years in service, the certificate that I was trained by a Portland Police Bureau instructor, I've never even had a parking ticket let alone been arrested, and that I'm a really sweet guy beneath my 6'4" 230-lbs exterior (honest!).

She let me walk out with crappy rolled prints and my CHP on GP (six blown out cards for each hand later)...
Mark(psycho)Phipps( HAHAHA! )

The best was a renewal in NH...the cop at the desk said "If you'll wait 5 minutes, I'll type it up...the Chief's upstairs so I'll take it up to him and he'll sign it right away. Nice, that.
Here in Florida, it took 60 days door-to-door but that was with fingerprints on paper, not scanned.

I've gotta renew in the next few days, myself (VA). My PA permit's good for another 3 years, except that we now have reciprocity. Greener, the "Need" crap went away when VA went shall-issue in 1995. As a matter of fact, when Fairfax County had their "legislative agenda hearing", whining to the legislature about how eeeville it was, local Senator was whinging about "They took away the need requirement... Wahh!". We all applauded, loudly.

My last PA permit was 6 days, mailbox-to-mailbox. Considering that the mail probably took about 2-3 days each way, turnaround must've been 15 minutes.

Here in FL,
it took 7 weeks.
With electronic fingerprints i've heard of people who had theirs in 10 days, mailbox to mailbox :what:

in PA it takes 30 minutes from what I hear :what:

I applied for mine 3 months ago....still waiting. Called the probate to see if i could get the status of my application, and she was a real b*tch. She told me it takes 4 months, she is the one that does it, so she knows, four months. Then she said, you know what....tell me your name, i will look it up for you. I said i will wait for it in the mail. She probably would have thrown it in the trash :p Rockdale Co. is crap.
