I was referred to the THR by a thread on the Ruger Forum, http://www.rugerforum.com/, read that thread and joined. Great forum. Thanks mods and admins. I'm glad to be here.
I lurked for the better part of a year before I joined. Being pretty new to both guns and pollitics, I didn't feel I had anything to add to the conversation.
For me, more like one day! After a total of 4,560
post on TFL I made the transition over to THR
smoothly. All hands are to be congratualted, for
both are very nice, informative works!
I signed on with TFL after about a week. I grumped around the house for three days when I found TFL was closing. (wife threatened to shoot me to put me out of my misery) Then I found THR was forming and signed on pronto. Never been sorry.
Mark.
I heard about TFL when it first opened, but delayed joining for about a month. Finally there were some threads that I thought a lot of guys got wrong (why the DAO pistol evolved) so I finally chimed in.
Found out about it from 1911 forum, came over and joined right away. I didn't start posting until very recently. I do ALOT of lurking and feel like I know some of you (as casual acqaintances).
Now that I am posting maybe you will get a chance to know me.
The day I found it, actually.
I was on a Ford Taurus site looking for info and someone had a picture from Oleg's site in there sig.
I followed it here, and signed up in about 5 min of surfing.
I don't know what all qualifies as lurking. I've been reading posts that dad has shown me from the firing line. So I was kinda lurking since before THR started, but then I lurked for a while, always reading over daddy's shoulder. Still am reading over daddy's shoulder cause then I can read 2 threads at the same time.
I had been on a friendly, well mannered forum on CompuServe (remember them?) that went bye-bye when AOL came in. They taught me a lot, got me through my first two purchases. When I left due to AOL, I still had a hunger for information that couldn't wait for someone else to ask.
By the way, the core of the CompuServe group is now at FirearmsForum. Great people, but small group. I find the web site less easy to work with than this format.
I lurked at The Firing Line for maybe a day before I asked my first question. Been getting good advice there and here ever since. Thanks to Oleg and all who share their thoughts and insights.
