Until the next panic?

I have gotten into bullet casting and am having fun with it, but the startup costs, lead inventory, building up a suitable selection of molds, etc. has definitely been eating my fun budget the last few months. I am getting there on all of the necessary stuff, but I am also in need of some brass and primers/powders to feel sufficiently stocked ahead of any runs. So I am trying to prioritize what I buy and when. Ultimately my goal is to be sufficiently stocked with raw components that I can afford to ignore whatever insanity happens as a result of political maneuvers aimed in the direction of the second amendment.

So what is the earliest opportunity we could be looking at issues? I suppose it is theoretically possible that you could have both houses swap ruling parties in November. A President that cared more about other things might be happy to sell us out to get something else more important to him. That is the soonest I should be thinking about, right?

Since the primer shortage of the Clinton Administration I've alwaus kept "adequate" supplies of everything.

Just remember that most shortages are created by shooters reacting to some that is unwarranted.

I don’t think Pres Trump will “sell us out”. One of his biggest backers is the NRA. As someone pretty loyal I think he gets that if he crosses the NRA he’d be done.

I think you’re right to be concerned about a change in the Legislative branch. But I think the risk is about 50/50 as the president has the veto power so any anti gun laws have to be signed by him or overridden by a 2/3 vote which is not likely. So I think a panic because of that is more likely in a couple years.

I think world events or a major crisis of some sort is a small but more likely possibility in the mean time. Again I’d put the odds at small but that’s why we prepare for the crisis now.

In my state of Virginia the last election is a bigger threat here as Northam and the AG want CA style gun laws.

Unfortunately we can’t know exactly when a crisis will come. So the best course of action is to build up a stock over time. I try to buy twice what I use. I try to get some extra supplies a little each month. So the cost isn’t huge all at once.

It wouldn't surprise me if that was exactly what he wanted.

The Democrats have total control in Washington state now.
Raising taxes is number one then anti-gun laws are next.
I bought 20 P Mags from PSA that I really don't need but I figure it won't be long before I can't buy them here.

Federal legislation that became law that is anti 2ed Amendment would eventually end up before the SCOTUS. Currently there is a Conservative tilt to the Court. While that certainly is no garente that the intent of the 2ed Amendment would be protected( remember the Obama Care decision) it is our last and best hope that our gun rights would be protected.

Most of my shooting these days is plinken ,paper punched and small game hunting with my old Winchesters.Having said that ,while I don't hoard ammo ,like others I buy more than I shoot.
