I have been thinking of getting my concealed carry permit since we need permission from our own goverment to carry firearms. My question is this: how long is a concealed carry permit good for? I don't know if this makes a difference or not, but I live in the state of Missouri.

Thanks

Makes a huge difference which state you're in

You need to go to this site http://www.usacarry.com/

Depends on the state, some are open carry without permits, Kentucky is one.
Here's what usacarry says about Missouri
Open Carry:
Unrestricted under state law; some local regulation on loaded carry is possible.

Annual Renewal in Alabama...

Apply in person first time, fill out paperwork then provide make/model/sn of a weapon once and background check each year and they renew by mail pay a $20.00 fee (at least here in Tuscaloosa, AL)...

How does that compare to your state/local requirements for carry permit???

In Blount County,Alabama CCW are not gun specific, known as unrestricted(one permit fits all). Annual renewal by mail(at least up until now).

$90 for an application ($80 for the app, $10 for fingerprints), $75 for renewal (no prints this time), good for 5 years.

So its not that much cheaper here. But if you dont have to take a CCW course in AL, you actually come out a little better.

There are very few positives about gun ownership in NY, but one bright spot is that my permit issued in Niagara County NEVER expires! My Non-resident PA permit expires in 5 years.

A Louisiana permit is good for 2 or 4 years, depending on how much you want to fork over to the state in application fees. Price is $50 for a two year permit, $100 for a four year permit. If you're over 65, cut the price in half.

Only downside is that you have to retake the CCW case every time you renew, so figure $250 every four years to carry a weapon.

Connecticut:
$35 for the temp state permit
$19.25 for the SPBI Background Check
$35 for the permenant (5 year, renewable) State permit
$100 (+/-) for the NRA Basic Pistol Course (Only needed for applying for the temp permit, which must be obtained before getting the State permit). Comes out to about $200 to get a permit. Renewals are $35 every 5 years.

IMHO nobody should need a permit to own or carry a gun.
The 2A states clearly that every citizen has the right to "bear arms".
CCW permits are just a way to tax the people.
