Havn't shot a CO2 gun in a Very Long Time. Just got a Umerax Glock 19 replica and I am enjoying it a Lot. Nice Practice Pistol. The instructions say to not store with the CO2 cartridge installed Long term as it will possibly damage the seals. My question is what is termed as Long term. I Like to leave the gun on my makeshift basement range and fire a few shots thru out the day. I would say the longest I might have a cartridge installed would be 2 to 3 days. Anyones oppinion about that??? And what would be the max time you would leave a cartridge installed?? Thanks for any input.

I always leave mine charged with SOME co2, but not a full charge. I have a walter 99 look alike sitting on my reloading bench that i put a co2 cartridge in a couple weeks ago. its been fine. My qb78 is always charged.

I left my QB charged and forgot it for several months. It will no longer hold a charge. It leaks in the breach area. I tried fixing it with the peloil fix of running it through the gun several times but it failed to fix it. I imagine I will have to take it apart and fix it. I am not sure it is worth the cost to fix in view of how cheap new ones are.

I have the same Glock 19 co2 pistol. I leave a cartridge setting in the gun and run the clamping screw up until it touches, with the “key wrench” left in the screw. When I want to shoot I just give it a quick screw in to puncture and seat the cartridge. So basically I never leave it charged but it’s only a few seconds away from shooting.

When I was a kid, I had several co2 pistols. They were loaded with co2 most of the time. I shot them every couple of days though if not every day. Now, does that mean I had them loaded long term?

I have a Hammerli Model "D" .177" co2 pistol with instructions that specifically say: " If the pistol is maintained under pressure, the seals will remain tight." The gun was purchased in about 1960 and had been stored in my Dad's garage for at least 10 years unfired or maintained before he gave it to me in about 1980. The seals had failed by then.
I had them repaired in about 1985 and tried to keep the "seals under pressure" since then. The gun holds pressure for about a month or 6 weeks. I usually shoot it that often but there have been a few months where it has been neglected. I get 40+/- good shots out of it per 8gram cylinder so I usually change the "powerpell" whenever I shoot it. It's easily capable of 3/8" groups at 10 yds. The operator however struggles to maintain a group less than 1.5" offhand at that range. Oh well...

I have a Crosman 2260 rifle,2240 pistol and a Daisy 1200 pistol. All three are always charged up for weeks or months at a time with no problems. I do put a small drop of 30w non detergent oil on the tip of the cartridge before inserting it in the tube to keep things lubed.
