How Long

clean, not long, I usually leave mine in overnight 'till the next afternoon though, just to shine up more

Clean is fine. Heck, I reload at the range sometimes so I don't tumble out there of course.
My usual routine is unload my gear and throw the empty brass in the tumbler when I get back from the range. I usually leave them overnight just cuz I'm too tired to go back out to the shop to turn off the tumbler after supper.:p

Tumbling ain't rocket science, it's results oriented and there are too many variables to set any specific time marks.

Clean is all it needs, so tumble until it's clean.

I have heard that the ammonia in Brasso will weaken the brass.
I have heard the same thing. I don't have any personal experience or proof but IMO there are too many good products on the market to take the chance. I tumble for two hours in walnut with 1/2 cap full of Nu Finish car polish and a paper towel tore into 8 pieces. After two hours they come out clean and shiny.

Man I like being retired.

Especially if you have a great hobby such as shooting firearms.

I would love to just practice my martial art, surf and shoot. I would try to fit handloading somewhere in there as well.

I forgot I had some brass in the tumbler the other day and it ran for about 8 hours, man those cases shined.

I normally only let them run for an hour or so.

I have been doing it this way for over 20 years and no ill effects. It is made for brass so why would it hurt it?

It is made for brass. Not brass that is subjected to high pressure. People have reported that they have noticed no short term effects. When the ammo is loaded and stored a few years the problems start.

Any tumbling is variable. It just depends on how clean you want it.
I've used Nu-Finish but switched to fine rubbing compound and bird litter. I don't know about brasso because I've not used it. There's enough doubt in my mind after reading about it not to use it.
